March for Life, Roe vs. Wade Rally Disrupting Traffic in DC

The annual event to march in Washington DC as a pro-choice or pro-life participant is happening today. With streets around the National Mall closed, parking restrictions, as well as fourteen bus lines being rerouted and the slowing of commuter trains from Maryland, traffic Disruption in Washington DC is a big concern today.

The National Organization for Women, Choice USA and NARAL Pro-Choice America are gathering at noon at the Supreme Court, 1st Street NE between Maryland Ave and East Capitol in Washington DC as well. The Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade decided in 1973 to make abortion legal in the United States, thus prompting these organizations and the annual January 22nd rally. Abortion and a women's right to choose or not has been at the forefront of political conflict ever since.

For the March for Life rally, Washington Post states: "At about 11:30 a.m., many of the rally participants will march to the Mall from an event at the Verizon Center. This will require temporary closures along 7th Street NW from F Street to Madison Drive. The main rally is scheduled for noon on the Mall at 7th Street NW. At about 2:15 p.m., participants will march to the Supreme Court. The route will take them north on 4th Street NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, then east to Constitution Avenue and up Capitol Hill to the intersection of 1st Street NE and East Capitol Street. Police will temporarily close the route and cross streets to vehicles during the march."

March for Life is also going virtual this year. Visit their website to find out how. Getting to these places in person might be a problem, but for the residents attempting to simply get around, they've got another thing coming.

“And they could also reverse the euthanasia that started in my state!”

They could easily reverse abortion and euthanasia. They are NOT in the Constitution. Killing has nothing to do with privacy.

“Terri Schiavo’s family was there and spoke. “

I heard Bobby Schindler on EWTN (shortwave), and I’m sure it was on EWTN tv, as well.

GEE, just think of what 1,000,000+ Tea Party Protesters could do sometime this coming year. I know it's difficult to organize and have a large participation on a weekday, but I submit we need to send a "message" and SHUT DOWN D.C. for a day! Maybe then, they will take notice (including the corrupt State-Run Media) and be willing to acknowledge we exist!

Agreed, even if CNN completely ignores the issue, it makes the traffic news! I think a 1,000,000 Tea Party Protesters in Washington in the summer would be possible. They got over 300,000 pro-lifers on a cold day in January!

There are a couple of options for the next big rally if you want MSM to take notice One, Have simultaneous rallies at the headquarters of CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, NYT, Boston Globe, etc This would take the story to them and drop it on their doorstep. Almost a challenge to the leftist press "Can you see us now!" It would be double dog during them to cover the story or show the world that you are sold out to the Obomunists.

The more belligerent (and therefore more dangerous in terms of public opinion) would be to get forty or fifty dedicated protesters together and have each one obtain a cheap car. On a Friday evening at about 4:30 each would drive to one of the routes out of DC. Preferably on a bridge or other structure turn the car sideways, lock up, and throw the keys away. This would definitely make the traffic news and would effect not only the press but elected officials as well.

I prefer the rallies but if forty or fifty of you folks out there have about 30 days to kill....

Yes, I heard the Silent No More woman’s speech when EWTN broadcast the rally. She started choking up when she talked about the unborn already killed through abortion and said “Their lives mattered.” Let’s make it so that they did not die in vain, and let’s save the future unborn.

The Silent No More woman (I can’t remember her name) gave a very moving speech.

Why did the journalists have to put a negative spin on a pro-life event?

That's a rhetorical question, right? This is actually the first year I remember that they've covered it AT ALL. I moved back here in 89, and had no idea the March even existed until the day I went up to the Hill for Clinton Impeachment tickets and saw it for myself. I wasn't Catholic yet then or I WOULD have known, of course.

Thanks!

Of all the signs I saw yesterday, the strangest had to be this: Anarchists & Agnostics Against Abortion.

?!?
Strange bedfellows, indeed!
