House Democrats On The Record: Passing The Senate Health Care Bill Not An Option
REPUBLICAN LEADER PRESS OFFICE ^ | January 20, 2010 | House Republican Leader John Boehner

Posted on 01/20/2010 8:45:30 AM PST by RightSideNews

Following the Democrats' stunning defeat in the Senate special election in Massachusetts yesterday, House Democrats are scrambling to figure out another way to force a costly government takeover of health care on the American people. The top House Democratic leaders seem comfortable with attempting to pass the Senate health care takeover bill in the House. However, numerous House Democratic members are already on the record saying the Senate bill is a nonstarter. Will they flip-flop now and bow to their leaders, who are intent on defying the will of the American people? Here's a sampling of what some House Democratic rank-and-file members said about the Senate bill prior to last night's developments in Massachusetts:

RE :”My understanding of the nuclear option is that the bill is reconfigured in such a way that only 51 votes, or a simple majority, is needed rather than 60.”(SoftballMominVA);

First off, short a number of RINO defections, Health Reform is now dead.

There is much confusion on this by the MSM and others. The true nuclear option is (#1) having 50 Senators +Biden changing the Senate rules so the filibuster is only ~ 55 votes. This is never been a serious option (except by a few libs in the house) and the gang of 14 blocked a similar idea on judges when Republicans were in charge of the Senate(thank goodness.)

There is also a process (#2) called budget reconciliation that requires only 51 votes but it cant be used for regulations and it expires if not deficit neutral.

MSNBC Maddow is just now (live) once again calling for #2 but she has called for #1 in the past. This is the payer for the dead.

Probably right, but on the other hand marshall law has prevailed before.

Health care reform and the stimulus were my favorite two topics (and the two big ones) so I followed them closely and made ping lists on them. Feel free to ping or email me with any comments or questions about related posts here .

Health Reform (HR) never really had a good chance of passing into law but it was popular to post doomsday articles about it here (my neighbors gave me these theories too). Last summer I used to reply to such posts with “You really have faith in Pelosi” and told them it was not going to happen. I always said HR would be the end of Democrats.

He doesn't get it, his narcissism stands in the way of any cognitive thinking on his part.

You're right. I have similar concerns. With his NPD and communist core, he isn't capable of changing course. In fact he will go all in and press harder on health care, etc. There will be a point where, when none of his plans are coming to fruition, (are we there yet?), the narcissistic rage will manifest itself because he will be approaching the Hitler in the bunker scenario. Hitler said go to hell to Germany - let it burn. What will Obama do? He has already, with his appeasement stance, invited an attack (unconsciously?) on the US by any superpower who possibly could, namely China and Russia.

Will he do a false flag? Are there enough checks and balances? I'm elated about Brown's victory, but don't expect Obama to change at all. What would Mao do?

Theoretically, the house could approve the senate healthcare bill, but I don't think that is going to happen. Even if it did, the cadillac plans would be taxed, and the unions would take it out on Dems in November, and maybe in 2012.

Today Stupak also said he doesn’t think the Senate bill could get 100 votes in the House after what happened to Coakley on Tuesday.

We may be headed for the best possible Obama misstep: Trying to ram it through one more time (and therefore quite obviously giving the people the finger) and failing to get it done.

One thing’s certain: If they do manage to pass that pile of crap, it will be repealed before February of 2011. Everybody running against an incumbent will say “Send me to DC and I’ll repeal this pig!”

Do not underestimate the appeal of pork to some of the weaker RINOs. Whores like McCain, Collins and Snowe once again become relevant without a Dem veto-proof majority. Look for Reid to court a Republican vote to the Dem side on this issue.

RE :” Do not underestimate the appeal of pork to some of the weaker RINOs.

I think about that as it is Os only hope. But this is not the high pressure TARP environment that helped buy the house republicans. At this point in time RINOs will NOT want to be seen as being bought. I am certain of that.

What Obama may try to pull a negotiate to get RINOs. But House Democrats already said they cant accept the current Senate bill, let alone RINO changes. So he can't get a single bill by changing either bill. And my guess is RINOs would demand big changes the liberals in House wont go for (as they wont go for Senate bill) . I think its dead short a rewrite with a few small reforms.

Pelosi is down 218 votes from the last time when it went through with 220. Only one vote needs to be peeled away. That should not be impossible. One would think these people are ducking and hiding from the witch as much as possible so as to avoid her showing up in their offices with a dagger between her teeth threatening to cut off their balls if they don’t comply.

I just don’t see her getting to 218 again after what just happened. They have to know there’s a very strong chance now that she won’t be Speaker next year. It hasn’t been discussed, but she’s been weakened by yesterday’s election, too. She lost a lot of power because the likelihood of flipping the necessary 40 seats is now probable rather than just possible.

No he doesn’t get it at all... I heard him with George Stephanopolous (SP?) last night, and he even had the audacity to say that what allowed Brown to be elected was the same “wave” that brought him to the White House! The guy is certifiable! I could only watch 5 minutes before I had to turn it off - I was going to have a stroke if I watched any longer...

Obama's puppet-masters must be apoplectic by now. Their grand design of using a slick-talking, supposedly-charismatic minority to keep the American electorate mesmerized while they destroy the Country is no longer working.

Now they're just left with a dope who can't string 2 sentences together without reading from a teleprompter ... and is too politically blind to see the writing on the wall!

The ‘nuclear option’ is only for the funding portions of the Bill.

It’s dead, people. Dead. No matter what kind of spin you hear about this in the media, it’s dead.

Exactly!
