As it happens, a fair number of those guys were from Massachusetts. However, the team was dominated by Minnesotans. :)

Ras said large turnout in Democratic areas favors Coakley. Both Ras and Zogby have been non-players in this race. Ignore any stale information from them.

RAssmussen said a large turnout favors Coakley.
+++++++++++++++

GOTV will work also for Independents who were sick of Coakley and make up the Largest voting block by far in MA.

I think one of the things we also have to do is disqualify them for any government pension! It’s all about money and these guys that are retiring need to be stripped of taxpayer/funded pensions.

One more thing I would add to your great list of why turn-out will favor Brown:

New voters. People who didn’t bother in 2008 because there was no choice their vote would change anything are out today because their vote will count.

On the other hand, there are a lot of people who did turn out in 2008 and voted for Obama who will either stay home today or vote for Brown.

In 2004 Democrats where at first tickled by the turnout. Then, in Ohio in particular, they noticed the turnout, which almost always favors Rats, was of Republicans. One Dem operative was quoted in the NYTs as saying it was like some horror show...they just kept coming and coming, from the condos, from the burbs, when they thought the wave had crested, more Republicans came to vote.

“Coakley is not a symbol of rebellion, she is the symbol of entrenched corruption.”

Right!

“Rassmussen said a large turnout favors Coakley.”

Who’s paying him to say this?

Michael Barone — I agree — where is he? Today I ordered off of Amazon his Politics 2010 book — $50.00 well spent for those like me who like to read Dictionaries (ha ha) i.e. no plot — just good information. Suppose you have one?

Update from Chelmsford MA as of 10:30 am over 600 votes have been cast, I predict that we will exceed the 2008 election, this is a republican/independent town, the traffic is steady. GO SCOTT GO!

JFK won the seat in ‘52, taking it from a Republican I believe. Then when elected POTUS in ‘60, Teddy wanted it. He wasn’t 30 till early 62, so the governor who was a Kennedy ally, appointed another Kennedy family friend, a guy named Smith I think who had no ambitions to the seat, as a chair warmer. Jack and Bobby weren’t sure they wanted Teddy to run but he did it anyway, and won in Nov 62.

I just went over to the DUmp, and there’s a thread entitled “Zogby Predicts Coakley Win” - the comments, cleaned up, are uniformly: “Damn, now we’ve lost for sure!” Although there are one or two hoping Zogby’s got it right for once. BWAHAHAHAH!
