From Miami to Maine, Savannah to Seattle, America is caught in an icy grip that one of the U.N.'s top global warming proponents says could mark the beginning of a mini ice age.
Oranges are freezing and millions of tropical fish are dying in Florida, and it could be just the beginning of a decades-long deep freeze, says Professor Mojib Latif, one of the world's leading climate modelers.
Latif thinks the cold snap Americans have been suffering through is only the beginning. He says we're in for 30 years of cooler temperatures -- a mini ice age, he calls it, basing his theory on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the world's oceans.
Latif, a professor at the Leibniz Institute at Germany's Kiel University and an author of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, believes the lengthy cold weather is merely a pause -- a 30-years-long blip -- in the larger cycle of global warming, which postulates that temperatures will rise rapidly over the coming years.
At a U.N. conference in September, Latif said that changes in ocean currents known as the North Atlantic Oscillation could dominate over manmade global warming for the next few decades. Latif said the fluctuations in these currents could also be responsible for much of the rise in global temperatures seen over the past 30 years.

Alternately, we could be at the end of the current interglacial where we can optimistically expect temperatures to drop by 6° ~ 10°C in 20 years and stay that way for 100,000 years.

I don't buy this crap any more than the glowbull warming.
The orange ball in the sky has everything to do with the weather and it is it that has cycles. We know a great deal about them, but there is so much more to be found out and as we learn more, these weather BS scenarios will be trashcanned.
Sooner or later that is going to happen...
The fact is typical interglacial periods are around 11,000 years if I remember correctly and we are past that point already...
And it certainly appears the sun may have entered a new lower energy state. Still very few sun spots...
IOW, yes it is clear that things are getting colder, but you still need to submit to our control scheme. I see the professor knows where his bread is buttered.
A few dozen well placed nukes could warm things up.
Well if you noticed, there’s no information as to what causes the “natural cycles”. Also note that magically the northern and southern hemispheres are separate systems but linked in these cycles in some unstated way.
The common factor may well be the sun.
I’m going long on natural gas stocks and Virginia maple syrup futures.

Thirty years might be wishful thinking. It could be two or three times that long, but in less time than thirty years, people will be ready to roast the warmers.

I wonder how they’re going to try to blame capitalism and Western lifestyles for this...
They’ll find a way, I’m sure. Probably “particulate pollution” or some such.
This will be, of course, caused by man made global warming. Existing zombie mode now.

Hmmmm. First the “leading scientist” says it’s going to get warmer, then he says it’s going to get colder. Next, he’ll say it’s going to do one or the other.
Not so. Don’tcha remember the ol’ nuclear winter theory back in the early days of the cold war. ;)
