C-SPAN flap further embarrasses White House
Examiner ^ | January 8, 2010

The White House continued to suffer embarrassment from its decision to limit coverage by C-SPAN of the healthcare-reform debate to a one-hour event in the White House East Room, in violation of eight separate pledges during the campaign that C-SPAN would provide gavel-to-gavel coverage of all debates and all planning sessions.

On Wednesday, Brian Lamb, CEO of C-SPAN's parent company, complained to radio talk-show host Bill Press that President Barack Obama had used his network as "a political football," making multiple promises of transparency on the healthcare-reform issue that he apparently never intended to keep.

And today, according to The Wall Street Journal, several members of the White House press corps pressed White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs hard on the question of why C-SPAN would not get the coverage opportunities it had recently asked for, and why C-SPAN had not been covering these debates from the beginning, as the President had explicitly said they would.

Fox News and the Journal are not the only news organs to question the attitudes of the President and Congress toward this request. No one denies that the embarrassing press conference took place, perhaps because it took place in front of far too many witnesses. Even that might be less embarrassing that this video collage, compiled by Naked Emperor News, that shows President Obama pledging, not merely once but eight separate times, that "it will all be done on C-SPAN."

While Obama does not control the rules of the House and the Senate, the public and the press should call on him to veto any health insurance reform bill for which the negotiations are not on CSPAN. That would be consistent with his campaign promise.

A promise means nothing to Obama. He will say anything, anytime, anywhere to achieve his goals. He doesn’t care what you, me or anyone else thinks right now, because he’s got congress and he’s got the cover of the press.

I really love the press turning on democrats and especially The One. Such a refreshing change from 2008. You know someone at FR predicted this would happen. I won't say who because he is shy :

Next year all focus will be on Obama to keep his promises and fix things. Now he's the liberal messiah, but once elected he will be hung by same fickle liberal press looking for blood.Wednesday, May 28, 2008 9:44:36 AM • 7 of 22 sickoflibs to Baladas

BTW : Many freepers swore this would NEVER happen.

They must hide what they are doing from America behind closed doors because if those Americns that aren’t paying attention suddenly wake up and see the stuff they are up to it will suddenly turn into France 1791!

Wrong. One has to have a sense of shame to have embarrassment. Hussein does not have that capability.

There’s no way that Obama would break his promise unless the Bush administration caused it. If you don’t believe that, then you’re a racist.

I would not expect him to keep his word, but my queston that he not sign a bill that does not meet his campaign promise can be used to further weaken him.

I’ll go for that. I still can’t believe so many people were fooled by him. He’s exactly what I expected.

This article doesn't sound like the press is covering up for him very well anymore. He is still ACTING like he can say everything and he is ‘The believed One’ when lying.

He is in a corner now. His options are very limited. Ironically contrary to talk radio themes, this is not left versus right anymore. It's democrat leadership versus everyone, including ‘the left’.

Sadly, I still know Democrats in Maryland that are ignoring this process so they don't know how bad the Obama bills are. But still some information they are getting, like Nelson's deal. But they still believe Obama when he says it's deficit neutral.

In reference to Obama’s narcissism, Charles Krauthammer asks, “[H]as there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements?” Sam Vaknin, Ph.D., author of Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited, writes that “Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist,” and offers a detailed explanation.

Obama’s entire campaign was nothing more than a demand to be recognized as superior without commensurate accomplishments.

The public record shows this: First, within the minds of Barack and Michelle Obama resides the grandiose, even megalomaniacal notion that they have the power to make the world as-it-is into the world-as-it-should be.
