Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

So, the Constitution means nothing? It is to be applied only when convenient? It is to be construed in terms of the present conditions, as a ‘living document’?

According to the Constitution, applying it to a sitting president takes a majority of the House and two thirds of the Senate. Not going to happen.

You were saying ...

I see you still smarting over the thrashing you took for yesterday's comment.

I must have missed it... what happened yesterday? [really... I have no idea as I remember nothing unusual happening...]

BTW, why are you on this eligibility thread after such along absence?

Oh... well I thought that everyone in the Obama Derangement Syndrome crowd had either died or left or had gotten bored or whatever, so I thought I would wake up a few people, since I was "homesick"... :-)

That... and it's the "New Year"...

I doubt that...or it is that you usually get severely criticized for saying something dumb.

I still believe it has to do with his paternity ... the name ‘Frank Marshall Davis’ keeps coming up.

All the info I've ever seen is that Davis met the Dunhams only in the mid 60’s. Until someone can show that he knew them in 1960 trying to make a case for Davis's paternity is as foolish as trying to make a case for a Kenyan birth.

I think the birth certificate says, “Father Unknown”. Doesn't match up well with the name "Barack Hussein Obama, Jr".

What does the Constitution say about removing a usurper who was born a British subject?

Obama didn't find out who his real father was until some time after he wrote the book. And considering that book is what propelled his political career, the truth of the matter would make Obama look really bad and probably would have been enough to destroy his run for the presidency.

Probably would not have been enough, considering that Reverend Wright and Billy Ayers were not enough. It would have simply added additional color to his persona.

However, at this point, a revelation that the American communist Frank Marshall Davis was his real dad would remove all doubt as to his constitutional eligibility.

You were saying ...

The problem is the Constitution provides no mechanism requiring a candidate to document his eligibility.

Ahhh..., you must have "lifted that" straight from my own comments from months back... LOL...

No, I don't believe you did, just kidding. But, I know that you see the same problem that I see, too -- which is why I suggested that state law to fix the problem.

And yes, it is a problem. I do see that it is. But, even so..., with me saying "just that" (about the nature of the problem as you just said) -- you should have seen me getting jumped all over.

And some of the "same suspects" are here, right now on this thread -- doing that very same thing. They just don't recognize the nature of the problem that Obama just "drove a Mack truck through" -- with no problem.

They think that just to identify the problem, as you say, and say that we need to fix it (by way of those state laws that I was talking about) -- is enough to make anyone (who suggests that) a "supporter of Obama"...

And so it goes -- just like you can see it happening right now on this very thread...

We need a mechanism by which eligibility is certified before a candidate goes onto the ballot.

And I absolutely agree 100%... thanks for saying it... It's not a solution that "belongs to me" or belongs to a "liberal poster" or an "Obot" (as many want to say) -- but it's a solution that makes sense for the average and normal person...

I believe that the reason ignorance persists with regard to the natural born citizen requirement of the constitution is because the government and the media perpetuate that ignorance by refusing to report even the most basic facts.

They are doing this on purpose, because knowledge is power, and those without knowledge are powerless.

Most of this country is not even aware that an eligibility question even exists, because it has been blacked out, and those who persist in this line of questioning are mocked and ridiculed.

It is quite clear, based upon Obama’s own statements, that he is unqualified to be president, but no one in a position of power wants to touch this obvious problem. I believe that the price of this willful ignorance is going to be higher than anyone can imagine.

It's more commonly known that you were asked by management to stay off these eligibility threads. You fell off the wagon under your own and unique derangement syndrome I see...

What does the Constitution say about removing a usurper who was born a British subject?

If one of the birther cases ever does make it to the Supreme Court, you can bet they'll make noises about separation of powers, shake a stick at Article II, Section 4, and toss the hot potato over to Congress. No way will they take it upon themselves to remove a sitting president.

The eligibility issue is most certainly real. Canada Free Press had that documentation a few months back that all the main networks told their anchors that if they mention the birth issue they are fired. (I know Lou Dobbs “resigned”, but it was just after he started talking about why doesn’t the Obummer just show the darn thing.) It’s just plain old CYA with all these media guys until someone, somewhere produces some hard facts then they’ll all jump on it like it is something new.

You may not be aware of how I post and how I go from one thing to another, but I do it in “rounds”... and sometimes I don’t post for a long time... many times “real life” getting in the way...

So perhaps you’re thinking of one of those times...

But, once again, I wouldn’t let “conspiracy theories” get in the way of reality... that’s just the way it goes with posting sometimes...

Again, I see a common pattern going on (with many Obama Derangement Syndrome types) — in that average and normal people do things in a way that many of these types see “conspiracies” and something “strange” going on... but in reality — it’s just the way things happen...

Sometimes I’m here and sometimes not. Real life takes precedence and then I’m back. Some topics are interesting at times and then they get boring...

For all that Obama Derangement Syndrome types look for “conspiracies” that they are sure lie right below the surface... LOL...

That MUSLIM appears as his religion on the birth certificate? Or so I've heard. He's a Muslim at heart whether or not it's on his birth certificate.

You can cross that off your list of possibilities. This is the United States, religion isn't something that is listed on a birth certificate. Besides, every newborn refuses to answer the question when you ask him what his religion is. What are you going to do to get it to talk, waterboard him? (Or her as the case may be.)

But I can’t buy the theory that he was born in Kenya and they faked his birth announcements in Hawaii.

This is false thinking. There is no need to believe that the announcements were "faked". The announcements in the paper merely state that a boy was born to a set of parents. There is no need to fake anything. If the grandparents want to ensure that Barry has full citizenship privileges without any undue hassle, they simply report the birth after the fact in accordance with Hawaii law, then the paper picks it up on its routine scan and prints the announcement. No conspiracy necessary, other than the grandparents wanted their grandchild to have American citizenship.
