(CNN) Jim Greer, the embattled chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, will resign Tuesday, two sources close to the party confirm to CNN.
Greer will discuss his decision with members of the Republican State Executive Committee around noon, and will hold a conference call with reporters at 1 p.m. ET.
The longtime ally of Gov. Charlie Crist has been under fire for his management of party money and his involvement in contested primaries. Critics of the chairman - including backers of Marco Rubio, Crist's conservative rival for the GOP Senate nomination - have been demanding his ouster for months. Greer was appointed by Crist in 2007.

Jim Greer is responsible for a great deal of harmful turmoil within the GOP. His departure is long overdue and much needed.
MICHAEL STEELE AND JIM GREER AND HIS COUNTRY CLUB BUDDIES KILLED EFFORTS TO REBRAND THE DEMOCRATS AS THE DEMOCRAT SOCIALIST PARY.

From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby
Steele is against a resolution renaming the Democratic Party.
OXON HILL, Maryland (CNN) Members of the Republican National Committee appear to have reached a compromise that would let GOP leaders avoid a possible dispute over a controversial resolution that calls on Democrats to re-name their party the Democrat Socialist party.
Steele has come out against the resolution, calling it not an appropriate way to express our views on the issues of the day. One of Steeles allies on the committee, Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer, told CNN the resolution is stupid and ridiculous.
However, New Jersey committeeman David Norcross, one of the sponsors of the resolution, told CNN the language is being massaged so that Steele and others on the committee will be more receptive.
The language is being changed so that the proposers and chairman Steele are on the same page, Norcross said.
He said that as of Tuesday afternoon, the chairman of the RNC Standing Committee on Resolutions had changed the language to condemn the Democrats march to socialism instead of talking about the Democrat Socialist party.
The change was made, Norcross said, so that members wouldnt have to fight about it, and I think everybody agreed.
Wisconsin GOP chairman Reince Priebus, another Steele ally, expressed confidence the proposal will be tweaked in the resolution committee, and that it should pass without issue.
STEELE MUST GO AS WELL
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
Could you post that over here?

Steele has been a disappointment, but his removal or unforced resignation is unlikely.
Did he also knife pretty good guy Bill McCollum in the back to push Mel Scarface Martizen for the Senate?
Crist is toast. His good buddy Scott Rothstein is in jail for his $1.2 billion ponzi scheme. Crist needs to step down because things for him with Rothstein may get worse. Charlie - time to go...to the bathhouse.
Democrats = The Party of Islam
The RINO’s see the writings on the wall. Push them out and unify.... no division ...this has to be won through unity.
Oh and for those of you who confuse Unity with Collectivism, buy a dictionary.
Ken Blackwell should have won the directorship of the RNC. He's the real deal, not Steel! Hey, I'm a poet and I don't know it! But I s'pose it could be verse. LOL end of the school day, getting ready to head home. I'm a little bit goofy after Christmas break.
See ya!
One down .... how many to go?
Senator Marco Rubio ....sounding better every day !!
