The Telegraph reports that Michael Mann of climategate's Hockey Stick fame, received a surprise today, a notice to all his colleagues that there's an effort to collect data on misuse of federal funds in his operation in an effort to mount a Federal False Claims Act suit:
Michael Mann - creator of the incredible Hockey Stick curve and one of the scientists most heavily implicated in the Climategate scandal - is about to get a very nasty shock. When he turns up to work on Monday, he'll find that all 27 of his colleagues at the Earth System Science Center at Penn State University have received a rather tempting email inviting them to blow the whistle on anyone they know who may have been fraudulently misusing federal grant funds for climate research.
Under US law, regardless of whether or not a prosecution results, the whistleblower stands to make very large sums of money: it is based on a percentage of the total government funds which have been misused, in this case perhaps as much as $50 million. (Hat tip: John O'Sullivan of the wonderful new campaigning site www.climategate.com)
In a world growing ever hotter, Huancavelica is an anomaly. These communities, living at the edge of what is possible, face extinction because of increasingly cold conditions in their own microclimate, which may have been altered by the rapid melting of the glaciers.
Hockey is my favorite sport, but that’s irrelevant here.
I really do hope everybody involved in this massive scam is found out, fired and humiliated, not being able to find another job remotely close to another science lab.
In other news severe winter weather in Old Limey has them on the cusp of a natural gas shortage with rationing.
This makes the Bernard Madoff’s scam look like a harmless prank. Everyone involved in the scam should get at least the same treatment that Madoff did and hopefully their bed in prison is 100 feet high and when they fall off they hit the floor really hard.
Mann gets slammed in the letters section of the WSJ today.
Move over Madoff, got a new roomie for you.

Your comment reminds me of a recent email I received:
“What do you think of this? Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!”
Now, that right there, is some GOOD science journalism.
Well, it MAY be good...
MSNBC market talker this morning said global warming is a settled fact, I imagine his market advice is as profound.
Thanks for the links.
I have been waiting for this shoe to drop!
it was the next logical step.
A lake near me iced over for the first time that I’ve ever seen.
Darn that Global Warming.
LOL. Good grief, how in the world did you find that? And why does anyone make a cartoon about a log?
“And why does anyone make a cartoon about a log?”
Ya just have to have been a “Ren And Stimpy” fan! It was one of their goofy ads. Here’s another that’s hilarious!
I couldn’t find the whole cartoon though;

I want to see some serve time in jail.
It’s better than bad it’s good!
