On his radio show today, Glenn Beck accused someone, somewhere, of orchestrating phone calls about the conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in America.
Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air, said Beck. I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration? I mean, thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.
Beck explained his skepticism of birtherism in a back-and-forth thats worth reading and concludes with jabs at the press and at the birthers.
As the guy who the media says is the king of conspiracy theories, all I do are forward conspiracy theories, let me forward this conspiracy, said Beck. He was born here because it seems a little unlikely that somebody planted the birth records, okay, a little unlikely, in the newspapers. Now you would say, well, then why doesnt he just produce? Good question. That one kept me up for minutes at a time, minutes.
Beck quite often has a very superficial understanding of the facts.
Actually there was a post on FR this weekend urging everyone to call Beck today about the BC issue.
“Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air, said Beck. I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration? I mean, thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.”
Priceless!
Beck has made it crystal clear on his TV show this afternoon that he works only with well-researched and provable facts.
The birth theories, even though compelling and most likely true, are not as yet provable. Turn up good evidence, and reputable media will be all over it.
It would be the story of the century. I hope to live to see the truth told.
Beck is right, again.
And I'm not talking about a certifcate that was "filed" in Hawaii.
Glenn has been very effective doing what he does. Let him choose his battles.
That doesn’t mean that we should just drop the issue. It isn’t just the birth certificate. There is a long list of documents that have been placed off limits. Its funny; if you go up against the O, your sealed records magically unseal themselves. But O’s unsealed records remain hermetically sealed against all comers.
He is the man with no paper trail. He is the man who never was.
“Turn up good evidence, and reputable media will be all over it.”
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Didn't Big Media go after George Bush's kindergarden records?
No.
There's also liberals here posing as conservatives too.
Sounds like Beck is covering for Obama....All the “Birthers” ask is the release of records every other president has done in the past...
Well, they dug up a DUI record when he was 19 and they said he snorted coke.
Beck is not alone in ignoring Certifigate.
Rush, Sean, O’Reilly.....
they all ignore it.
However... To ridicule birthers is stupid. Beck is insulting his base.

They really need to go after his Columbia law school records, if it can be proven he got federal aid while posing as Indonesian, it would open a big ol’ can of worms.
I’m a birther and I agree with Beck. This is no longer about the truth but about getting attention.
I have no doubt that liberals are part of the harrassment game being played with Beck over this. Why no harrassment of Limbaugh or Hannity? I know that the nutjob Alex Jones has promoted harrassing Beck over it but Jones is an idiot who can’t decide whether Beck is a KGB or CIA operative.
As for the birthers. Its time to clean house and refocus. Concentrate on congressmen who can actually do something about the issue and find one attorney to get behind.
No, you've got it wrong -- Beck was saying that conservative radio shows were seeking birther callers -- and that this was a bad strategy because birther arguments actually help Obama -- i.e., it's a political strategy as poorly conceived as some Obama administration strategies.
...not a problem for a liberal.
Beck has occasionally gotten things wrong and a lot of the time exaggerates things.
Your second paragraph is reversed: the birth theories are most likely false. However, the “reputable media” has repeatedly lied and misled about the simple, basic, easy-to-understand facts of the matter.
If people had handled it correctly, the issue could have been used to help discredit the MSM, at the same time as not getting into obscure theories. I got absolutely no help with my year-long attempt to do that. I’d point out that an MSM source had lied about the basic *facts*, and that would be followed by two type of responses (here and elsewhere). The first claimed that the cert issue is a red herring, completely ignoring my take on the issue. The second took the fact that the MSM source lied to mean that it had been proven that BHO was born in Kenya.
For a tangible example, the author of the linked post has been at the center of the anti-birther crusade. Yet, none of the birthers have tried to strike back by pointing out that he lied about the basic facts of this matter:

To tell the skeptics to shut the hell up is stupid too. There are bigger battles to fight and that ain't one of them.
