A poor substitute for the usual thread.
IMO, it would make no difference where it was moved since it is part of the government bureaucracy. Moreover, it would be a radical departure to move it elsewhere. No other country that I am aware of does it outside of their foreign ministry. And what other consular functions would go with it? Issuance of passports? Protection of amcits overseas? Notary functions?
Consular functions are closely intertwined with bilateral relations overseas. Every agency at an embassy or consulate serves under the Ambassador (with one exception, military commanders of an operational mission). Moving this function to the military is a bad idea for so many reasons, starting with the optics of a democracy delegating to the military the responsibility for who gets a visa or not. For now, civilians still run this country. What's next, a military coup?
I’m afraid Americans WILL accept full body scanners and any other idiotic thing the feds dream up to avoid profiling.
More and more comes out about the flagrant warnings ignored. And they cite a watch list of about 500,000, implying that this is an impossible number to deal with.
Well, hire Bank of America. If I didn’t pay my bill, every 7-11 store in the world would know it and refuse my card.
This is just unacceptable. Why ignore this, Media?
As equal opportunity as women are,”sharing” only goes so far.
Apparently even some of them are finally wising up

Partisan Trends: Number of Democrats Falls to New Low, Down Six Points Since Election 2008
Brennan says he was very disappointed (paraphrasing) by Cheney’s remarks about obama’s handling of this latest terrorist incident. Hey, Brennan, IMO, Cheney was trying to knock the “kid” out of his stupor and get him to take this seriously!
Brennan tells us that Incompetento has just the right skills for her job. That would be true if one of the skills is going on Sunday talk shows and sounding stupid.
Then he says that we very much need Strothers at TSA because of all of his skills which include, as we have seen, lying under oath and “correcting the record” only when it’s clear he is going to be caught.
NOt really, but he has a direct line to Jack Bauer....
Alas...this amateur tried but failed miserably to fill your shoes for oh-so-such-a brief moment. Oddly, iirc, it was 6-7 years ago you were late and believe it was me —a newbie—who started the thread, not knowing you did it regularly......all which is to the point of the severity of my addiction. If it’s not there by 6-7 am local time I start having panic attacks :)
Nice chart. I don’t believe that unemployment has been flat for the past six months. That view has been manipulated to keep the number stable, and by dropping off some long-term unemployed while extending others, - probably by federal funds flowing in ‘preferred’ states.
Huh? I wish!
I’d buy you all rainbow unicorns that pooped skittles!
The Obama supporters do not have a single leg to stand on, except maybe the one with a tingle running up it.
He has not made one appointment of a competent person with no tax evasion/fraud, no history of questionable or criminal activity or some kind of anti-American behavior.
Not one. (that I can think of)
He has not supported one idea that is good for the country.
Why does he still have support. I’ll bet half my friends on facebook still think he’s better than GWB.
I would not bet my life on it.
NO surprise that brennan is doing 50 shows in one day. Same message will be run over and over and over, no room for error in a commie regime such as this one.
I remember that, chiller.
I think I demanded to know what you had done with Alas!
LOL.
Typical Obama; appoint an admitted liar and criminal to head up airport security, then send one of his main brown nosers out to second the motion. In other words it’s you lie and I’ll swear to it.
It is possible to track every visa issued to who issued it.
Then lets publicize the nimrod who approved the panty bombers visa.
This administration is famous for hiding what is really going on under the realm of constant chaos.
Recently it's been the panty bomber and now chaos in Iran and Yemen.
IMHO,this lends me to wonder what is going on with cap and tax and more recently amnesty goals which are now quietly being batted around in Congress.
Any guess as to how far either issue will get?
