How can a man who takes three months to decide how to respond to a request to send troops from a general he appointed keep a straight face while criticizing others for not responding quickly to a terror threat?

Marxist-style sharing of property was not preached by Jesus himself. It was a survival tactic among a group under intense persecution. If you were living in a bomb shelter or a catacomb, what would you think of someone who would not share?

The early Christians were not a threat to anyone except the religious establishment, both Jewish and Greco-Roman. The NT preached against any rebellion against the state. Again, a survival tactic, and an acknowledgement that the Kingdom of God was "not of this world."

There are no Christmas breaks in war zones. Just ask our guys still with us about their Christmas 1944 holiday in the Ardennes Forest around Bastogne. Then there was the battle of Trenton 1776.

The administration that is serious about a state of war does not pair down its forces for a holiday. These people just refuse to face the reality of our situation then want to blame us for being political when they get caught with their pants down.

The system worked, but what was its objective, against which this assertion must be judged?

Yes, but my point is that Jones was able to use that Biblical injunction, plucked out of its historical context, to justify his People’s Temple. Thus he could claim to be Christianity-based, when he was espousing a form of Marxism.

I heard a curious reference to this situation on CNN. The young woman announcer who works opposite Anderson Cooper, in commenting said this. Referring to the desperate and worried father and his approach to the CIA.

For the want of a better word he (father) "ratted him out".

How strange! using street language about a poor man trying to save his son and others.

Ratted him out indeed.

I heartily agree. Someone once told me that a heretic is "one who picks and chooses." That is supported by this from Wikipedia:

The word "heresy" comes from the Greek αἵρεσις, hairesis (from αἱρέομαι, haireomai, "to remove"), which means one who removes important structures or beliefs from an accepted orthodoxy.

Satan and his minions know that plucking things out of context can be used to support agendas completely in opposition to the original meaning. That's how they derive "separation of church and state" and "general welfare" from the Constitution.

You make an excellent and well thought out case regarding cults based on respected religions. You have obviously done a lot of careful research.

I might add this caveat however.

In the cases of Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other otherwise peaceful religions, the “Death Cults” are a distinct aberration that are repudiated by their “mother” faiths. As witnessed by the posts in this thread by sincere Christians disavowing the People’s Temple, for example, anyone who knows Christian doctrine or the Bible instantly recognizes that Jim Jones USED Christian rhetoric to deceive people.

Islam is the notable exception to this generality. The entire history of Western Civilization, from the conquests of North Africa and Spain to the Gates of Vienna, from the Shores of Tripoli to the World Trade Center, From the Golan heights to Ft Hood, the History is one of usurpation and violence. “Moderate” Muslims who stand against the murderous extremists are so rare that they become towering news items, like this Nigerian’s father.

The knee-jerk reaction from Islamic Organizations whenever there is a Terrorist event is to instantly whine about a “Possible Backlash Against Muslims”. Instead, they should be working hand-in-hand with law enforcement, turning in any known terrorist in their midst.

Do you think Janet would profile ... if the people trying to blow up planes were... (wait for it) Branch Devidians?

Bet on it. The whole liberal cult would turn on a dime - and that phony baloney "respect" for religious differences woould be thrown out the window.

Tell me you know that. Tell me you understand democrats are acting like cult members...

If the name got reported up the food chain (and it was mentioned upwards on the thread that the info from the father's report got to CIA on Nov. 19th), then the name should have been shared by our CIA with Interpol in Europe. If that had happened, the perp would have never been able to board the plane coming from Amsterdam/Schiphol.

Where is the breakdown? At least Carville had it correctly the other night (talking on CNN). Where is the breakdown? Looks like a CIA screwup here, folks.

Interesting factoid. The skivviebomber bought a $2,853 ticket, with cash. That is ten weeks at the U.S. minimum wage, but six years and seven months at the Nigerian minimum wage. Some Nigerian without a job buys a one-way ticket with cash, and no flags are raised.
