The accused "underwear bomber" made a dramatic final call to his father that he found so alarming, the father approached Nigerian officials who took him directly to the CIA's station chief in the Nigerian capital, sources told ABC News.

At that time Christianity was a small sect brutally persecuted by Judaism and Roman pagans. It was necessary for its members to pull together in an extreme way. (I believe that today’s Christians should share with their persecuted brethren also.) Also, early Christians seemed to believe that the return of Christ was imminent.
Yes, but reading the NYT story makes me wonder where were the deep pockets financing his escapades.
He floated around several different countries, and when apparently no place for any home, where cash would be his main resource to find a living and home, he goes out and purchases $2500 plane fares without passport or luggage or change of clothes.
Methinks follow the money.
Oh, the Thuggees—I just watched Gunga Din the other evening! These Islamic fanatics remind me of the Thuggees!
It was most likely a State Department dolt that let the guy in. I seriously doubt that CIA agents in a war zone are playing “Carlton the Doorman”.
NSA would have picked up the phone call.
PantyBomber or EunuchBomber are much better.
Leave it to the islamics to turn something like blowing random people up and making it even sicker.
Napolitano: “The System worked” and if you quote me on that you are taking me out of context.
lol
I think you’re probably right. The State Dept is full of liberal pukes who probably thought this guy would talk without preconditions.
I just used that analysis at dinner, saying that Gunga Din, as a Hindu, was distrusted by most of the British Army because the Thuggees were Hindu-based. The British had to learn to separate simple Hindu believers from the fanatics. I think we have to, as well.
Sheesh. She looks like she should be a principle at a Middle School.
Any sight or sound from Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton on any of this ?
Joe has to be good for few words.
The father has to take some responsibility raising him to be a Muslim.
Maybe the CIA gets 10 or 20 such calls per day.
Good point.
I always found it amusing that the part of Gunga Din was played by a Jew!
When I was in the army..most of us got a Christmas break, usually a two weeks before Christmas and ending after New Years day. The office or unit was on a 50% work schedule during that period. There was no official leave or pass. A duty schedule was passed around.
Maybe the same thing happened in the government offices that were responsible to monitor this terrorist.
Yes, “back then” Christtianity was regarded a a dangerous cult by the existing government. They tried to stamp it out by killing Christians in mass spectacles, or by blaming them for disasters. All they succeeded in doing was making the Christians they killed into martyrs, people we consider today to be saints
Obviously that approach didn’t work, even 1800 years ago.
But your comment proves my point. There are sections of the New Testament that demonstrate that the early Christians were what we might call Marxist in their approach to private property. They were regarded as a cult, a small outlandish sect who believed the world was going to rapidly end.
The Bible we read today still has proofs of that, and Jim Jones used those passages to justify his People’s Temple.
These Islamic-based terror cults use passages from the Koran in the same way. Does that make them mainstream Muslims? I would argue no, no more than Jim Jones’ believers represented mainstream Christianity. There are many, many parallel religiously-based terror cults throughout history.
Searching history to find the most effective way of eradicating terror cults, and adapting those approaches, might be a very useful enterprise.
This information is coming from the White House..
I don’t think so. The report is from Nigeria.
I’d feel safer if these current clowns were removed from office.
