HONOLULU -- Conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital on Wednesday afternoon with chest pains, sources told KITV.
Paramedics responded to the call at 2:41 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.
Rush Limbaugh AP Image Rush Limbaugh Limbaugh, 58, suffered from chest pains, sources said. Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived, sources said. He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.
Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. He will not be released from the hospital on Wednesday night, sources said.
He was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier this week. The country club is next to the Kahala Hotel and Resort.
The radio show host had been in the islands during the holidays. Coincidentally, his visit comes at a time when two of the nation's most powerful Democrats, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are also staying in Hawaii.
In 2001, Limbaugh received a cochlear implant after he suddenly lost hearing due to autoimmune inner ear disease. Limbaugh underwent treatment in 2003 for an addiction to prescription painkillers, including Lorcet, Norco and hydrocodone.

I can see it now.. Paramedics ask Rush if he was on any medications.. he says.. "Yes, extra-strength Tylenol for my back problem" Of course they intentionally leave that part out.

Im glad he is at the Queens Medical Center on Oahu. It is a great hospital with an outstanding cardiac unit. My own father was treated there for a hear condition years ago, to include heart surgery, and the doctors and staff were absolutely outstanding.THANK YOU for that info, Dapper 26! I was wondering what this hospital and doctors might be like... glad to hear this is a top-notch medical center.
Prayers continue for Rush...

Chronic back problems are difficult to deal with even for doctors...If you need meds to relieve pain, I am all for it...To those that have not had to deal with chronic pain, keep your opinions to yourself.
The hysteria has reached such a point that some doctors are reluctant to give cancer patience's what they need.. Its dumb as a box of rocks to have that attitude, and its because a few high profile people like Elvis abused them...so everyone has to suffer..
I hear one smart oncologist say he didn't worry about his patience becoming addicted...they needed their medication to just survive...I have seen such patients take such high dosages it would kill a normal person, it just allowed them to get out of bed and walk the halls for a few minutes.....Immunity to narcotics is common for chronic pain patience...

.You can take anti-inflammatories as well. But, if he is on painkillers, it is because it is needed. Hes been in horrendous pain lately. If you havent had severe back pain, you dont know how easy it would be. I had one bout where I sneezed and it hurt a little. I went to bed, and when I got up in the AM I had to pull myself to the restroom on my elbows. My legs wouldnt work. It was too inflamed. I couldnt climb the stairs or otherwise go to work for week and had to work from home laying on my stomach. Not fun.
I came back from running once, lay down on the floor, fell asleep, and when I woke up the little bit of lower back pain had grown into something so huge that it prevented me from sitting up. I had to push myself over onto my side and drag myself up using a chair. I could just barely walk and any cough caused spasms that would collapse me to my knees. One just does not realize how important those tiny little muscles are at the base of the spine until they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing. And the only thing that gave quick and effective relief was blessed codeine. Thank God for narcotics.

If someone is suffering from pain, and I mean REALLY hurting, what are they supposed to do?How about quitting golf? I love the game, but it's hard on the back.

Exactly. They just had to get that dig in there. How about every time Oboomba is mentioned, they throw in the tag, ‘former pot and cocaine user.’

Indeed. I hope he has a food taster. Hawaii is Oboomba-friendly territory.

Thanks for that Brytani...it needed to be said. Chronic pain is the worst thing in the world and we have no right to judge anyone’s decision to do anything they need to do to have relief and some quality of life.

No, Rush should not give up golf.
When you have chronic pain, you give up things that don’t matter much to you, at first, then you give up things that mean a bit more, then you begin to give up on things, and people, and yourself and everything you love - finally you begin to give up on life.
You learn to do what you love in different wants maybe, but giving up is not a good option.
Unless you have been there, it is so hard to explain.

I’d chech out of there as soon as possible. They provided cover for ‘the one’.
I’d get back stateside to a real hospital and confirm anything and everything done in THAT hospital. I hope he has bodyguards...seriously.

That's not a bad idea. We can certainly do that whenever we write or speak about him. Since we don't know that he quit using them though we can use 'admitted' instead of 'former.'
