Barack Obama enjoys living like a king, so why shouldn't Michelle Obama live like a queen?
The First Lady was photographed last night in Hawaii wearing $635 per pair designer shoes by Maison Martin Margiela.
The shoe style is called "Leather open toe flat pumps." It features a "thin nude leather strap across the top of the toe."
A woman lucky enough to have a job in this economy and working for the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would have to work 88 hours (without taxes taken out) to make enough to pay for Michelle Obama's shoes. If she can get them on sale, they would only set her back $445 for 62 hours work.
The Obamas are staying at an $8.9 million estate for an estimated $4000 per night. To cover the Obama's ten night stay, the minimum wage worker would have to work two-and-a-half years (before taxes) to come up with the $40,000 Obama is reportedly laying out.
Obama has lectured Americans about how they can not expect to live their lives as indulgently as they have in the past. He has lectured businesses about their travel and pay. Yet Obama and his wife live like kings and queens.
The news media has yet to call him out on his extravagance when there is 10% unemployment with no sign of the employment picture improving this coming year.

For this dinner out, Michelle is wearing a lovely cocktail dress in a wide variety of neutral tones. This v-neck dress, with a twist in the fabric just below the bust-line, is flattering to the first lady’s pear shape. She accessorized with simple, silver hoop earrings, and hair swept back in a low bun.

Wow! Not sure I’ve seen anything closer to the truth with regards to MO....they pegged it.
Ugly shoes, yes.

I remember when the press attacked Sarah Palin for the price tag on her outfits purchased on the campaign trail.
Where is the outrage, press? Where is it?
I am pretty sure that Sarah didn’t have a closet-full of designer clothes that she could pull out for the campaign, and as I see it, she pretty much had to get new clothes to look vice-presidential.
But it’s a good thing the Obama’s remember where they came from, I wonder how much community organizing pays? Methinks I’m in the wrong career.
I’ve seen some riverdance-type performances, and while the dancers do not spend much time en pointe like classic ballet dancers do, they do manage moments where they do seem to bear weight at the tips of their toes! It may be an illusion, but an impressive one.
So she paid $635 for the bottom half of a slipper? What do the tops cost?

I like the shoes but Miz Obama does not look good in any shoes because she has big ugly feet.

$635 for a couple of black leather tortillas? Those are some damned ugly shoes to begin with... and MO’s feet look ridiculous in them.
It’s a matter of caring about public perception. They don’t. It’s like Obama playing golf constantly during trying times.
Bush refused to do this, not because he couldn’t have made time but because he thought it would look bad to be on the golf course when we were at war.

Hmmmm, don’t know how they could afford these things. He was a lowly community organizer and state senator previously. And she was well paid for her “job” as an administrator, but neither comes from Kennedy-type money. Just like the Clintons. Funny how they can afford all this stuff, working as “public servants.”
