KABUL (AP) - The Taliban released Friday a video purporting to show a U.S. soldier who was captured more than five months ago in eastern Afghanistan.

imho its a hoax a fake. Why is the soldier wearing sun glasses, as if he’s trying to disguise himself and the taliban complaint is so not like them.
He’s looking way too happy and fit in the still shot. My gut says it’s a man-love convention.

On one side of the image, it says: “An American soldier imprisoned by the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.”
The Geneva Conventions, which regulate the conduct of war between regular armies, bar the use of detainees for propaganda purposes and prohibit signatories from putting captured military personnel on display. As an insurgent organization, the Taliban are not party to the treaty.

Obama likes to say “the time for talk is over”, it is due time to back it with action with these terrorist, and the ones in Iran holding hostages
Anything coming from the enemy - especially propaganda flicks - should be treated as lies.
Speaking of which - Why are the alleged voice recordings from Bin Laden treated as the gospel? My take is that the dude was killed at Tora Bora in 2001.
The fact today is that with a little experience and a minimum investment in the proper equipment, anyone can be heard and seen to say anything.
I should know. During the Vietnam War I worked in psych ops in Military Intelligence.
So, if the Taliban is so organized that it has a MEDIA ARM, I guess they must be main stream? Do they hold regular press conferences? Do they have an office in Kabul? Inquiring minds want to know how AP gains access to them.
The AP is the media arm.
This doesn’t show sunglasses: http://www.breitbart.com/image.php?id=app-56bc7d3d-1c4a-4656-b544-8bb13d633f7c&show_article=1&article_id=D9CQBCKO5
he is lucky to have survived for 5 months with those animals and looks to be in good condition. prayers for him and his family
“During the Vietnam War I worked in psych ops in Military Intelligence”
You must be noticing a lot of standard psyops tactics employed by today’s media.
I’m noticing them lose control of their message - low-level bloggers are catching up with the message & printing what they really think. I think that’s great for us.
to me, he is a convert, and totally agrees with his captors, he walked out the camp, without a weapon, and equipment,
This is my take as well. As is well known in the military, you don’t do your R&R in a combat zone. He is very likely another white Muslim convert gone over to the dark side.
In short, a traitor.
