Sen. Ben Nelson (Neb.), the final Democratic holdout on health care, was prepared to announce to his caucus Saturday morning that he would support the Senate reform bill, clearing the way for final passage by Christmas.
"We're there," said Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), as he headed into a special meeting to announce the deal.

If the Anitchrist succeeds in passing the “healthcare takeover” bill, it will never go away. I cannot think of a single government program that ever has...they just bloat, and grow like a malignant tumor.
I know what you are going to do sir. You are going to vote to end debate ( which requires 60 votes) and then you will vote against the bill knowing full well Reid has the 51 votes he needs for passage.
You will then come home to Indiana and sell yourself as a fiscal moderate who voted against our loss of liberty.
This will not work sir! Any positive vote for ANY form of this bill will make you a liberal socialist for life and I for one will do all in my power to make sure the stink of this sell out follows you to the grave.
This is it! The Senate has declared war on Americans. This is a coup d’etat. It must be reversed.
The senators who voted ‘yes’ behind doors be4 they vote ‘no’ in roll call must ALL be voted out of office as well.
People right on this site helped elect the Democrats by saying both parties were just alike and no need to vote. When we were crying voter fraud in the 2000 election and asked people to start looking at their precincts, what did people do — NOTHING!
When ACORN came to light and we ask again to check their own precincts and weed out the voter fraud, again NOTHING! If we had ACORN voter fraud in OK, it was everywhere but it was ‘let everyone else do the lifting.’
Not to mention the ‘teach the Republicans a lesson’ mantra or when one or two Senators don’t vote with the GOP, blame the whole caucus when 90% vote together. In the House, we have been close to unanimous standing against the Obama bills but that doesn’t stop people on here from saying vote everyone out. Why when the GOP is standing together to fight Obama and need our help not criticism? My two Senators, Inhofe and Coburn, have been standing against the Democrat spending for a long time so I will continue to support them 100%. That is how ridiculous this vote everyone out has become.
If people on here think this ia rant, it sure is. What I have been reading on here lately about a 3rd party is what got us Franken and happens every time. It also got us a Dem Governor in Oklahoma when an Indy got mad and run causing Largent to lose by 5,000 votes. The Indy promised free everything including tuition so he got enough votes to give us a Democrat Governor.
This idea of Tea Party is inclusive to make a 3rd party run is Bravo Sierra for the most part as Republicans make up a large part of the Tea Party movement along with conservative Dems and Indys. Running a 3rd party person in the face of the numbers we need to take back one House gives the election to the Democrats again. How many people touting 3rd Party are closet Democrats? Around here some Democrats have been touting a 3rd party, but then my neighbor said that way every Dem will win.
Ben Nelson sold out — that was predicted. Unlike Sen Boren who Clinton threatened with closing Tinker AFB, Nelson folded under pressure. Sen Boren resigned to become President of OU and since then has worked to put the strongest Rep in the 4th District to protect Tinker AFB. Guess that Clinton didn’t like the fact that then Sen Boren was one of the proponents of Clarence Thomas for SCOTUS. As President of OU, he finally managed to get rid of Anita Hill along with her endowed chair which he never filled. He stood up and was counted over and over again.
People of NE need to take note when Nelson is up for reelection but would guess he will be another one retiring. Maybe someday people will understand that although there may be voters who are still conservative Democrats, there are no Conservative Democrat elected politicians because when the chips are down, they will sell out to leadership.
Ask me if Inhofe or Coburn would sell out to leadership on something they opposed? Hell would freeze over before either man would sell out. Along with DeMint and others those are the types of people we need to elect — ones who vote for their constituents.
This Oklahoman is very proud of our delegation on healthcare because this Red State where no County went for Obama and only gave him 34% of the vote will vote 100% against Obamacare including our lone Democrat, Dan Boren, son of David Boren who voted with our other four Congressman NO to Obamacare.
If people on here don’t get organized to oust these Democrat Senators and Representatives who are pushing this through ignoring the Rules, then the true colors of the people posting will be known.
To stop Obama, the GOP has to take back one House and all the hand wringing and posting isn’t going to do one bit of good if we don’t have boots on the ground to make it happen. If people want to sit here and declare the Country is over, then get out of the way of people who refuse to let that happen. Democrats are willing to be defeated to hand the Chicago thug a victory. Let’s make sure that defeat happens starting with Harry Reid of Nevada who is nothing but a thug himself and needs sent to the Unemployment line.
My more then two cents! I liked President Bush’s ‘you are with us or against us’ and that is the way I feel about the 2010 election. This talk of 2012 is ridiculous — not one candidate should be campaigning for President right now but should be out helping our candidates in 2010.
One more person posts about how a candidate who will be President will overturn all Executive Orders doesn’t understand the first bit about what happens with Executive Orders after they are published. Takes months to overturn them.
We have one election in 2010 to worry about and people better be concerned about backing candidates that can win because we need to take back a lot of seats in the House that the Dems took in 2006 and 2008 — a lot due to voter fraud.
My #1 candidate right now for defeat is Grayson, the former Bronx, NY, resident, who went to FL and now holds an Orlando House seat who seems mentally imbalanced at times.
My more then two cents on this Saturday morning.
NEVER...EVER TRUST A POLITICIAN!! NEVER!
(Hope you don’t mind, but I like this better)
WEASEL!
WEASEL!
It's time to starve the beast. The will of the people has been thrown in the trash too many times, and this takes the cake. These bureaucratic losers don't deserve to be in the position they are in, and the only reason they are there is because of OUR TAX DOLLARS!
WAKE UP AMERICA! IT'S TIME FOR ACTION!
Any attempts to undo this by a GOP Congress (which I think is unlikely to be elected anyway) will be met with screams of “you can’t take health care away from poor and unemployed people!” Either they will back down or any efforts to reform the law will be ineffectual.
The way is see it the people of Nebraska are to blame for this. Why you dumbasses vote a man like this into office?
Silver lining?
Buy Health care stocks.
Once the Senate passes it and the Senate and House versions come together, the revised version still has to pass again in the House doesn’t it? I can see some abortion advocates having second thoughts since federal funding of abortion is supposedly out, as well as the election now looming over all of their heads. Too optimistic?
But we are now at a point where the Federal gov has 0 money. It WILL collapse. Goverment’s with massive amounts of debts always do.
Only if you're willing to lay down and let them do this to you.
I hit up Jim Webb and Mark Warner (my senators) today. I’m amazed that just last week their staff can say they are undecided, yet they are never in the news as being one of the democrats holding out on this.
I let them know they are part of the problem in washington and if/when they vote for this bill I will actively campaign against them regardless of their opponent.
Does this not have to go back to the house?
