Sen. Ben Nelson (Neb.), the final Democratic holdout on health care, was prepared to announce to his caucus Saturday morning that he would support the Senate reform bill, clearing the way for final passage by Christmas.
"We're there," said Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), as he headed into a special meeting to announce the deal.

It never was in doubt. No dem can be trusted to buck his party bosses and do the right thing... ever.
“Is it constitutional for a bill to allow Nebraska and Louisiana citizens to pay less than a citizen of NC, PA, AZ, etc?????”
Is it even beyond folly to believe this criminal cabal in power in DC even gives two sh*ts about the Constitution?
TRAITOR, NELSON AND THE REST!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn’t think so. I didn’t like the big dig and I think we can pay for our levee’s. Many are not needed except in the minds of the Corp and local politicians.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2411138/posts?page=110#110 is my opinion of the importance of certain issues.
What I find shocking is that these alleged “pro-life” Democrats can actually look themselves in the mirror after selling the unborn for a few sheckels of taxpayers’ money. Nelson, Casey and the others seem to worship at the altar of Pontius Pilate, complete with hand-wash basin.
Seems like it was just a few hours ago FReepers were anticipating Sen. Nelson would stick to his “principles”, and were ready to anoint him.
I think we are getting close to having to refresh the “tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Letter from Thomas Jefferson to James Madison dated 30 January 1787
NE has not been able to find a good senator since Curtis and Hruska, and that has been a generation.
Fat chance, MT, I don’t think, has elected but two Republican senators (short termers) since World War II. ND is really infatuated with the socialists, probably goes back to the old Nonpartisan League.
I think all of this is the long-term consequences of the inaction of one GWB.
that pic says it all...
I don’t know if they will go to hell, but their hands will be covered with the blood of the innocent until they repent.
A general question-anyone know if this conscientious objector (against paying for the murder of the unborn human babies) will have to pay? It is against my religion.
Yes cheap and easy.
So much for “my vote cannot be bought.”
I admit it will take huge will power, but we CAN do it. Why? Because although the taxes begin immediately, the benefits do not begin until 2013. That gives us two election cycles to vote in a conservative Congress and president. I know . . . this is HARD. But we must each commit to helping elect conservatives in our states/districts.
And I mean we commit with time and MONEY.
I want a leader to step forward. THIS is the time, Sarah Palin. Step up and lead us on a platform of Repeal this bill. Come on, Sarah (well . . . someone!)
It IS hard, but we CAN do it. Please join this fight. My husband and I have committed some money (that we can’t necessarily afford well) and we will each give two hours/week to the congressional candidate that we support.
