Declaring that she was honored and proud to run with him, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.
The website TMZ accused Palin of a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain during a Hawaii vacation this week: Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.
But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to be incognito -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.
The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.
Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."
The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

That first one about education is tough, I fully agree with it but I doubt even DeMint would have the guts to do that.
Yes, I think she also said something similar to that during the campaign. I have posted before that I believe McCain chose her because their positions on many things were similar. I am too lazy to look it up, though...
I hate it when these threads disintegrate into group romps, and SoCalPol is right when she points out that detractors of one candidate never miss an opportunity to pile on. It's a sport that's not meant to serve any useful purpose.
I am most assuredly NOT accusing either of you of participating in this practice. I am merely posting to you two because you posted to her and to one another.
Personally, I don't give a rip about who supports Ron Paul or even the Keyester. I merely consider their support of those two when I evaluate their comments. :)
I do not care to buy her book. I support Reagan Conservatives, and I won't give a thin dime to anyone else. And I have never been one to read auto-biographies. it is rather droll to sit and read someone pimping themselves. Especially in the political realm (Reagan and a few others excepted). Even Rush's books were painfully self-aggrandizing.
I prefer to take a cynical view... seeking out the bad before the good, and looking harder at the detractor's position, trying to prove that -- Because surely, those are the questions that will be brought forward in the campaign. And those who oppose are not going to let up at all by then.
And if the contrary position can be proven, it is not merely contrary, but factual, regardless of the political spin. Facts is facts, as they say.
“I want to hear that conservative Republican pledge to do away with the concept of unelected and unaccountable ‘czars’ that are appointed, and to remind the American people that THEY ARE NOT **SERFS** and they do not live in Russia! and they do not NEED ‘CZARS’!!
And that conservative Republican needs to clearly state that they intend to uphold ALL immigration laws as they exist RIGHT NOW, which translates to “are you in America illegally? You are subjected to being deported immediately and you will be BANNED from ever re-entering the United States, so GET OUT NOW!”.
You R O C K !!
I am NOT for drug legalization because young people today are STUPID. And I don’t want to dodge every SOB who wants to drive STONED OUT OF THEIR MIND.
Open borders would destroy America in one year.
I wasn’t trying to pile on SoCalPol. I was talking about comments that were made, and I wanted to make sure I didn’t slip one in without her being able to see it.
The truly sad thing in all this, is that we all want the same thing. We want Sarah Palin to be able to win the presidency, and do a very good job for us.
Some think that seeing everything she does as being perfect, is the best way to achieve that.
Others think there is always room for growth in life, and hope that she will become even better than she is now. Patting her on the back and saying atta girl no matter what she does, stunts growth. It doesn’t promote it.
As for what people say, I think the best policy is to look at the comments, give them thought, and see if they have merit or not. When you start looking for ulterior motives unto the fifth generation, you’re in trouble.
I support Sarah. “I think she made a mistake, because McCain is not supportable by Conservatives.”
Someone may support Paul and say, “I think she made a mistake, because McCain is not supportable by Conservatives.”
Can you tell me what makes one of those statements less accurate than the other?
LOL. I see your comments posted twice. I hate it when that happens.
Give me a little time to reply. It’s lunchtime here and I also want to find some links for you that I think you will find interesting!
I’ll be back within the hour.
The she should have bought a visor that says "Hawaii" on it and she would have looked like any other tourista.
See my tagline.
Will do. I just got the book yesterday.
The problem with legalizing drugs, is that there would always be a black market unless you legalized every drug known to man, and allowed every human access from birth. No thanks.
Yes, open borders would be the best way to render this nation irrelevant in less than twenty years. Essentially, that’s the battle were carrying on at this very moment, as a new immigration bill looms large.
Old Johnny Mac will undoubtedly be for it, although he may try to distance himself from it due to the election. That sure didn’t stop him last time though.
That’s one of the most crucial reasons why I didn’t care for the 100% support comment from Palin.
Oh well...
Sorry — Didn’t see that someone had already pointed this out... Didn’t mean to “gang up” on you! :)
D1 I find having read through all of the preceeding threads that I particularly agree with your observations that Gov Palin is not perfect and indeed should never be held up as such (I doubt she thinks she’s perfect either). Her supporters are passionate and that isn’t a bad thing in itself. Your observation that the Gov needs to continue to grow and get better - be the absolute best she can be - are so very true not just for her but for all of us. Thanks again for your thoughtful posts!

When I criticize Palin, I have her own words to back it up. Now, as for SoCal, do you find it offensive if ,
instead of intellectual discourse, every Sarah critic is labeled a Ron Paul supporter, either directly, or by innuendo?
To me, that is contempt for truth. I have some 35000 posts on FR, and not one will find me anything but a conservative Republican.
For the record.
Romney is RINO scum
Hucklesbee is RINO scum
Lindsey Graham is RINO scum
John McCain is SUPER RINO TRAITOR SCUM.
My first choice for POTUS last year was Duncan Hunter
My second was Thompson
There was no third, as they all sucked!!
All of my posts posts prove the above. And I will not let some flake take me on a hummer!
You and I have had many good conversations and debates over the years, always with decorum, and mutual respect. Why should I settle for less with others? I won’t.
Thank you for the nice comments Sarah Fan UK. I appreciate it.

Yeah, facts are stubborn things ;-)
Nobody but nobody is more anti illegal immigration and illegal immigrants than I am, short of making it a racial issue. I don’t care to see them abused here or in their homeland. They don’t belong here and should be repatriated, if they’ve only been here a day or fifty years. They made their bed and they can sleep in it. My nation is too important to the world, to see it destroyed.
Okay, so when I see Palin make a comment about immigration that I don’t like, I pounce on it and trash her unmercifully right? Wrong.
I say her comments last year about illegal immigrants. I realized they were woefully inadequate. I hoped she would grow to understand the issue better.
So this isn’t about me pouncing on her unfairly. This simply isn’t a gray area issue. John McCain is a vile person. It’s one thing to run with him to try to moderate his actions, but it’s another thing entirely to say you back him 100% for re-election.
Folks really do need to wake up and smell the roses here.

As of now, Palin is not ready for prime time, as you so clearly enumerated earlier. She should run for Senate, travel the world, and SPEND A WEEK IN CALIFORNIA.
