Palin supports McCain '100 percent' [Palin pushes back at TMZ 'disprespect' meme]
Politico ^ | Dec. 16, 2009 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/16/2009 4:38:39 PM PST by Al B.

Declaring that she “was honored and proud to run with him,” former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.

The website TMZ accused Palin of “a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain” during a Hawaii vacation this week: “Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.”

But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to “be incognito” -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.

The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.

Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: “I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

I guess in your mind she is already tainted since she ran with him. So nothing else to be said then

You pegged it perfectly.

“No, I don’t worship anyone, but I do support her, and I don’t understand why you hate her so much. Not agreeing with her I get, but you sound like you really hate the woman, what gives?”

Sarah, The worst I ever said about Palin is that I don’t trust her. I never said I hated her, or anything remotely like it. I appreciate your efforts to find the links. The last one ....I can’t get the video to work, but I will keep trying.

"Little mishap"?

As I pointed out in my earlier post, she might have been caught off guard and just gave a “nice” answer. We don't know if she is going to campaign for McCain, but you must feel good tearing her apart! The email I posted indicates she is going to be campaigning for conservatives. Perhaps if you cared to read my post you would've known this.

That's politics for you.  If she disparages McCain, it's a story.  If she says nothing, it's a story.  And if she just says something nice, it's a story.  Some people are impossible to please - it speaks volumes about them, and less about Sarah Palin.

Sarah was put in the political limelight by McCain. AS much as I don't like him, she's not going to diss him and will likely support him in his candidacy. It would be unlike her to not be somewhat faithful in her support for him.

Also, if she takes the nomination, she will need support from the center (actually center/left with McCain) and she's smart to keep that relationship as good as possible.

You and I are generations apart and have completely different experiences but you have it ‘head on’,

If we don't keep them honest, Who will?? Democrats??? Who kept Bush honest? Levin? Hannity? The Bush-bots here?

I am loving democrats suffering now, I mean REALLY loving it. But unfortunately that could only happen because Republicans lost.

Here's one response I got today: This is a two party Country, get use to it. If you don’t want to work within the Republican Party who has a majority of Conservatives, then join the democrats, supporting a third party candidate is the same thing. As for Glenn Beck, he uses comments and information from others without attribute and is why many Conservatives are fed up with him. Beck’s crap that Democrats and Republicans are all alike is his shtik to push his propaganda. If he thinks Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint etc, Republicans and Obama, Harry Reid Democrats are the same which he states by his comment, he proves he is a dry drunk and emotional basket case who should go back to being a DJ and stop the anti war, Libertarian propaganda. Screw 'em (meaning those now having an anti-Palin 'epiphany').
She has her own mind, her thoughts and beliefs will not always coincide with mine, yours or anyone else. Neither did Jefferson's or Reagan's.
Though in the end she'll be as great, or greater, a President as the two aforementioned gentlemen.

Firstly those expressing surprise at Palin supporting McCain aren’t real Palin supporters that have listened/read what she has said/written. She has consistently said she respects him, admires him, and Palin has donated to his reelection fund and is positive about him in her book.

She admires him, and has a sense of loyality to him because he selected her as his VP. What is wrong with that?

But just as importantly, although Palin can win the nomination in 2011 without the Republican establishment, it will be far far harder without any political support, and with even more enemies.

Dissing Mccain/campaigning against Mccain would be a huge blow to her support among certain elements in the political class, and many voters (both republican and otherwise).

It looks bad. No loyalty. No gratitude, and really no sense.

Sorry, it’s a no-brainer, and it is based on loyalty and gratitude.

In not going to argue Illegal Immigration policy with you.

We have 20 to 35 million illegals in our nation today. If they get a pathway, then they’ll be able to bring family members over. Each of then will bring an average of four or five over.

You should be able to understand we’re talking about massive numbers here, and that’s not the end of it.

Getting the border under control is a catch phase that hides a multitude of problems. Just one of them is a new relaxed green card that that could easily see up to 2 million people allowed into the nation each year legally, never to leave.

Vague platitudes are not going to suffice here. I want specifics. Sarah won’t be able to go to school on McCain and glide through on this.

She is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. Just imagine if she had come out and said that she supports JD Hayworth, just imagine what people would say then “Oh she is so ungrateful, McCain put her name on the map and now she disses him” but when she supports him(Which DUH, I mean seriously, anyone with half a brain knew she would support McCain by just reading her book alone) she gets trashed. Nothing she can do will satisfy everyone. I don’t like McCain either, but she will support him because she admires him(as a war hero) her loyalty to him is strong and that is just the way it is

I don’t think its support, its more like loyalty.

Oh, it's support alright.

The exact quote:

"I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection."

Now, if she wants to be "loyal," that's fine, as long as she doesn't let herself get blinded by "loyalty" that she does something stupid...like openly support a RINO, especially one like McCain who is one of the worst. The best she could have done was stay quiet; instead she chose to send McCain a contribution for BOTH the primary AND the general and now...this particular shenanigan.

Either she supports McCain (!) or she is blinded by loyalty; in either case, it's a liability if she is unwilling or unable to call out traitors like McCain.

Now, as for the links to the transcripts from Rush and the gentleman from Oregon, thanks to both of you. I am going to take back the amnesty charge and hold it as "I don't know, I need more clarification on her take on the matter" for the time being. If she says something stupid on the matter, then we'll discuss it as the need arises.

The remaining two reasons relating to her support for McCain, however, stand.

Well, here is my point. In her latest email (2 days ago), Sarah has indicated that she intends to support conservatives in 2010 and to work to take back our country.  I don't see how campaigning for McCain will do that.  Let's say JD Hayworth runs, I don't see how Sarah will campaign for McCain in the primary.  I suspect she would just stay out of the primary.

I guess we have to wait and see.

If she does, I hope she does it from a distance, just enough to not make a difference......

It would be tough for her not to support him, in spite of her email.

I suspect she would just stay out of the primary.

Too late. Her PAC already fed money to McCain's primary and general election accounts.

So far she hasn’t shown that she gets it, and your blind support shows you don’t either. I don’t care where you live.
