New York Times ^

Aug 21, 1932 Eugenists from all over the world will attend the Third International Congress of Eugenics today and tomorrow at the American Museum of Natural History. At general and sectional meetings they will discuss advances in the study for the physical and mental improvement of the human race.

Aug 23, 1932 Eugenic reforms must be adopted within the next hundred years if civilization is to go on, was the message of Major Leonard Darwin, son of Charles Darwin, founder of the modern theory of evolution, read last night at the Third International Congress of Eugenics, which opened yesterday at the American Museum of Natural History.

Well, you know, as with communism, those regressive Christians have been standing in the way of full implementation, so it hasn't been allowed to work. /freaking sarc

I’ll bet that brought a smile and a nod from Herr Hitler.

Hitler's debt to America

"..The Nazis' extermination programme was carried out in the name of eugenics - but they were by no means the only advocates of racial purification. In this extract from his extraordinary new book, Edwin Black describes how Adolf Hitler's race hatred was underpinned by the work of American eugenicists.."

I wonder if Leonard Darwin came to eugenics on his own, or did he “inherit” it from his father?

In fact, the Nazis used the “Indiana method”, which was indeed based off eugenics policies in the United State of Indiana.

Major Darwin and Margaret Sanger would have prevented Barack Obama from ever existing. Thank about it.

It’s often customary to separate real Darwinism from Social Darwinism. But in fact the two have long been interwoven and supported by the same people.

The eugenics movement was discredited when Hitler took it up, but over the centuries since Darwin first wrote, that was just a blip. Now, eugenics is back in fashion again, although they are VERY careful to avoid any racist sounding elements. (But they still are very busy aborting blacks.)

This reminds me of Cyril Kornbluth’s SF book, The Marching Morons. the novel is posited on the idea that modern healthcare and welfare are keeping the less fit alive longer, helping them to breed, and therefore society will inevitably get stupider and stupider since survival of the fittest will no longer be allowed to operate.

Actually, I enjoyed the novel when it came out. Kornbluth is pretty funny, in a grim sort of way. It didn’t occur to me that people like the Democrats would actually use such ideas to base real politics on.

Nothing like lending a helping hand to the whole survival of the fittest argument. Or, perhaps eugenics is the mechanism evolution has chosen to expedite the process.

It’s not dead. There are plenty of people who still believe this crap. Ever heard people use the term “excess population?” You’ll find plenty of them in the Mensa membership, environmentalist groups, mental health authorities... any group that feels itself to be innately superior and that that superiority is not based on merit, is a candidate for eugenics policies. There is no shortage of them. Most liberals believe in this even though they try to pretend their bigotry is something other than it is. Why else do you think that liberals believe that blacks can’t compete against whites? Because liberals are racists and true rascism is intimately connected to eugenics beliefs.

Plenty of chlorine in the Eugenics gene pool will take care of any residual problems this plan had!!

Margaret Sanger would be proud:

Lots of gene pool cleaning commenced. Way to go! (See tagline)

Well said. It really is shocking when a supposedly compassionate liberal talks about excess population and that wouldn’t it be great if we had some great disaster that killed millions. Then in the next breath they say c02 kills. Barking moonbatism is ubiquitous.

Then why are liberals against welfare reform? Why do we pay women to have babies out of wedlock? What would happen if you could only get welfare if you were a widow or only for the first pregnancy out of wedlock? Why do we encourage illegals to have children with the concept of anchor babies? Why don’t we change the law to take away incentives for the less fortunate to get pregnant in the first place?

Ummmm. Because liberals are moonbats? What’s new about liberal self-contradiction? They believe all these things because it makes them feel good. Logic never enters the equation. You’ve never noticed liberals contradicting themselves in the same sentence before?
