BIG NEW SUNSPOT: (7 times wider than earth)
Spaceweather ^ | December 16th, 2009

Posted on 12/16/2009 11:22:05 AM PST by TaraP

INCOMING CME: This morning at 0120 UT, an eruption of magnetic fields around sunspot 1035 produced a long-duration C4-class solar flare and hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) in the general direction of Earth.

High-latitude sky watchers should prepare for auroras when the CME arrives on or about Dec. 18th

Sunspot 1035 is growing rapidly and it is now seven times wider than Earth. This makes it an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. Yesterday, Rogerio Marcon of Campinas, Brazil, photographed a maelstrom of hot plasma and magnetic filaments connecting the sunspot's dark cores:

Solar activity is picking up," he says.

The magnetic polarity of the spot identifies it as a member of Solar Cycle 24--the cycle we've been waiting for to end the deepest solar minimum in nearly a century. One spot isn't enough to end the lull, but sunspot 1035 could herald bigger things to come. Stay tuned for updates.

MONSTER FIREBALL: On Monday morning, Dec. 14th, at 3:59 am Pacific Standard Time, a piece of extinct comet 3200 Phaethon hit Earth's atmosphere over the Mojave desert in California. This was the result. The fireball occurred during the Geminid meteor shower, which peaked on Dec. 13th and 14th when Earth passed through a stream of debris from 3200 Phaethon. In some places, people saw 200+ Geminids per hour. In the Mojave desert, one was enough...

>>ALGORE must have contacted the SUN.

Well, it will be hell to pay when he eventually contacts the SON.

1. This will do major havoc to everything going through satellites, for an extended period. Get prepared to lose use of your cellphones and GPS enabled systems.

2. this will put the capper to any questions about what effects *the SUN* affects our “GloBULL Warming”.

...and will likely destroy all the arguments the crooked EnviroEnslavers have put forward to pull off their Worldwide criminal Hoax.

I pray it continues. I would like a summer in 2010.

I'll settle for another 2009 summer. It was great except for about 5 days. Millions of people saved tens of millions of dollars on AC.

I’m going to open a “Spot and Trade” Exchange; the franchise rights alone will make millions!

We saved money in AC but lost out on all our strawberries and tomatoes.

I’d say we came up even in the end.

"I'd like to see the sun spotless until the global warming scam is nailed for the fraud it is. "

Wouldn't matter if it was 15 years from now or next year. They would make something up and the sheep would buy it.

Look for rough weather over the eastern Atlantic into G.B. and Europe around the 21st-25th.

I'd like to see the sun spotless until the global warming scam is nailed for the fraud it is.

It's not going to happen. The environmental whackos have stopped talking about global warming. The operative phrase is now Global Climate Change.™

Global Climate Change™ is so much handier than global cooling or global warming ever were. It doesn't matter whether it is warmer, cooler, dryer, wetter, windier, less windy, etc. Whatever the weather happens to be anywhere in the world, it is caused by Global Climate Change.™

It's all Bush's fault. Bush and those damned SUVs.

Women and minorities will be hardest hit.

Can’t get much more wintery than that?

Am I wrong to be worried?

We have a long ways to go yet until Solar Activity Levels produce a net warming effect on Earth. Right now we are about half way to neutral. We had more activity then this back in March 2008. Sunspot activity is just one component of many. But basically, you do not get any net warming until you see a whole lot of black spots over the suns surface. In fact the latest prediction from NASA state that we will only have a short peak period of warming from cycle 24, and NASA has consistently predicted more activity then has actually occurred so far with cycle 24.
