Oops! ...He Did It Again
American Thinker ^ | December 15, 2009 | Joseph Ashby

The former Vice-President has been caught spewing climate propaganda again. This time claiming “fresh” climate models show that the northern polar ice cap could (75% chance) completely melt in as little as five years.

Gore described the new projections as shocking, but perhaps the biggest shock came to the scientist Gore credited with the research. Timesonline reports:

The climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

To recap, Gore’s “fresh” news was several years old. The data was not so much data as it was a visit with a scientist; and most importantly the polar ice caps are not going to melt in five years.

Sort of a microcosm of Mr. Gore’s post-electoral life, isn’t it?

Well, I was shocked (not) that Gore’s lie made it onto page 1 of my hometown newspaper, The Columbus Dispatch, ugh.

It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski said.

It was arrived at the same way the rest of the man caused global warming lie was arrived at, pure fabrication.

Don’t be so rough on Gore. Million degree temps at the earths core will almost certainly melt the ice caps at both poles.

UN chief: Time to stop climate finger-pointing

By JOHN HEILPRIN (AP) – 14 minutes ago

(snip)

On Tuesday, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore told the conference that new data suggests a 75 percent chance the entire Arctic polar ice cap may disappear in the summertime as soon as five to seven years from now.

Scientists say global warming will create rising sea levels, increasing drought, more extreme weather and the extinction of some species.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bloomberg, also in Copenhagen, appeared bullish about developing wind power in New York after touring the world’s largest wind farm off Denmark’s coast.

About 20 percent of Denmark’s power comes from wind. Bloomberg noted that Con Edison and the Long Island Power Authority are planning to develop a wind farm about 15 miles off the Rockaway Peninsula.

Aside from producing zero pollution, the mayor marveled that the Danish wind farms were so beautiful that they could pass for public art, even invoking the name of Icelandic sculptor Olafur Eliasson.

“It’s pretty hard to find any reason against it,” he said.

But Bloomberg got snippy when asked about flying over to Copenhagen on his carbon-spewing private jet.

“One small amount of carbon can get me here,” Bloomberg said. “How did you get here? Do you have any real questions?”

No controlling legal authority.
Peer reviewed studies.
Dingell-Norwood.
Too much iced tea.
Mending fences, figuratively and literally.
Don’t be snippy.

” claiming “fresh” climate models show that the northern polar ice cap could (75% chance) completely melt in as little as five years.”

This is the same kind of wording that tries to snag suckers with “You COULD win $1,000,000!”

No Opps about it, Al Gore is telling fresh lies. He is such a liar.

Except it looks like Dr. Wieslav that's telling the porky pies.

COPENHAGEN - Al Gore’s citation of a scientist predicting an ice-free Arctic within a decade appears to have been accurate. It appears the scientist Gore cited, Dr. Wieslav Maslowski, did in fact make this prediction and it was published on December 2, 2009 by the Danish Climate Institute, lending support to Gore’s claim that the “figures are fresh.”

On December 14, former Vice President Al Gore told the UN climate summit that the Arctic could be ice free within a decade. “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years,” Gore said. ...

Well, Mr. Mayor, there's rowboats and conference calling. They don't make much carbon do they?

My scientists say there is a 90% chance of the entire surface of the earth icing over within 5 years unless we all continue to drive and act as we normally would.
