Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site
12/11/2009 | Jim Robinson

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

It is nothing less than incrementalism, used by the left on our liberties.

Just dilute the Book into a collection of Fairy Tales, nothing believable, nothing to see here. Jesus? Yep, he was a good man, nothing more. That is where that incrementalism will take you.

So, like evolutionists who are Christians, you pick and choose which science to believe, based on what you can reconcile with your faith. It’s good to know that you are not 100% opposed to learning. I think that someday you may be able to understand how some things can be not literal, but true all the same.

"I'll take sola scriptura any day other than the warnings of a bunch of self-proclaimed deniars!"

Then you are rejecting the continuing role of the Holy Spirit in God's plan for mankind. The inability to recognize the Holy Spirit in action is a common failing of churches without the blessing of Apostolic Succession. Where you see men, we see the actions of the Holy Spirit working through them in exactly the same manner It did when It brought them together to publish the Bible, from whence you claim sola.

Yes, I know, the Bible is a ‘True’ book, just not believable.

The 3 Hebrew children in the fire did not happen, Jonah did not, Noah did not, Moses splitting the sea did not, David did not slay Goliath, Pass Over - are you serious?, Jesus, he knew where the stumps were in the Sea of Galilea. Born of a Virgin? A VIRGIN? Hmmmph.

OK, now my faith is so much better now that I believe man and science, instead of the Word of God.

The mistake they makes is the same thing that Biblical literalists and Protestant fundamentalists make: they believe that science and faith are intrinsically opposed to each other and can never, ever be reconciled.

You need to stop reading things like talkorigins and DC talking points.

Show me one group that thinks that the entire Bible be read literally without recognizing poetry, song, parable, etc. I've challenged many an evolutionist with that and not ONE has ever been able to support that lie.

You also need to demonstrate that any YECers believe that science and faith are intrinsically opposed to each other. Links and sources would be nice.

People think that YECs are like that because of the lies that are spread about them in an effort to discredit belief in creation.

It's a lot wiser course to take than to pick and choose which Scripture to believe based on what you can reconcile to science.

Jesus made clear why He came... With these Words, He paints a perfect picture of your group! NL, your claims are not supported by the Scriptures. Please don’t treat me as ignorant, nor a stooge. Picture your priests garments when you read below.

The only Apostolic succession is in the minds filled with RC mush. I reject it all as crap. Yes, crap! It is no different than any other offal. I am not worried whether I have your blessing. All blessing flows from God. His Word is my guide, regardless of your priests opinions. Jesus has much more credibility to me...

*********************

Matthew 23 (NIV)

1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5 “Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

16 “Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18 You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ 19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.

23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

metmom, I have seen what YEC’rs teach first-hand, over and over, since childhood, because I was raised in the Bible Belt surrounded by people who believe it. My contact with DC only came about because of my participation here as an adult. The kind folks on DC have no power to brainwash me against YEC’rs. The actions and words of YEC’rs stand for themselves/

I have to ask that if you understand that the Bible is full of allegory, metaphor and parable, how do you come to the conclusion that something so obviously not supportable by the empirical evidence isn’t one of those things?

RoadGumby, Natural Law’s post 2,183 is my answer to that.

This is very confusing or enlightening I was told once baptized in one church be it Protestant or Catholic the baptism was recognized and accepted and no need of being baptized again?

I was told it was one big love fest!

"Dude... you can hit the CAPS LOCK key again and your typing will go back to normal. Or you can try decaf."

OK...here goes...I'll follow you're helpful suggestions. I wrote this;

Odd expression...never heard that one before...can't imagine what kind of hate monger would equate Christians in America to the Taliban - people who ravage villiages and murder innocent women and children - even using the term Christian Taliban SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE WITH MORE THAN A SMALL DISLIKE OF CHRISTIANITY...and certainly someone with no sense of history, logic, proportion...or reason.

OK I HIT THE CAPS LOCK AGAIN LIKE YOU SAID...I DON'T WANT TO HIT IT TOO HARD, THOUGH...MIGHT BREAK SOMETHING...I'VE GOT REALLY BIG HANDS...SO I JUST PRESSED IT...BUT NOW THE CAP LOCKS ARE ON...

I'VE TRIED DECAF...IT'S FOR LITTLE GIRLS AND WUSSIES...YOU RECOMMEND IT, I SEE...ANYWAY, I DIDN'T LIKE IT...BUT THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY A KEYBOARD WORKS ANYWAY...YOU REALLY ARE NOT VERY BRIGHT ARE YOU?

WHY DID YOU WANT ME TO SWITCH BACK TO ALL CAPS LIKE THIS? I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T LIKE THIS...YOU AREN'T TOO BRIGHT ARE YOU? I USUALLY JUST US IT TO EMPHASIZE SOMETHING INSTEAD OF SCREWING AROUND WITH THE BOLD STUFF OR USING ITALICS BUT I KNOW WITTY LITTLE FELLOWS LIKE YOU THINK IT IS COOL... ALTHOUGH USING THE BOLD STUFF REALLY STANDS OUT, HUH? DID YOU REALLY WANT ME TO USE CAPS OR WERE YOU TRUNCATING MY MESSAGE TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE I WAS DOING IT ALL THE TIME? THAT'S PRETTY DISHONEST INTELLECTUALLY, SO I KNOW THAT CAN'T BE IT, YOU BEING SUCH A RIGOROUSLY HONEST, DECENT AND STRAIGHT FORWARD FELLOW.

"Then in all fairness, they should crack down on evolutionists who bash creationists as non-Christians. It works both ways."

Before I buy into any 'fairness' proposition, I should like to hear a clear and definitive understanding of the meaning and the use of such terms as 'bash', 'criticize,' and 'disagree.' For example, is any expressed disagreement to be tagged as 'bashing'?

Too much 'discussion' on this forum is really a propagandist effort seeking to advance a point of view, ignoring the justice of the issue (issues), looking to inoculate oneself from rebuttal, and to put the onus entirely on the other fellow.

And, the worst practitioners of this disreputable art are those who come into the forum intending to push certain social and political goals under the color of defending sacred Science.

Brain dead, rigored, probably well into decay... You raise up science to discredit Genesis. That opens the door for anyone to use science to discredit the Resuurection.

Are you questioning the science of evolution and not the science of rigor mortis?

The mistake they makes is the same thing that Biblical literalists and Protestant fundamentalists make: they believe that science and faith are intrinsically opposed to each other and can never, ever be reconciled. It is a falsehood which great Catholic thinkers like our current Pope have strongly, repeatedly repudiated. Science is the one of the means to understanding God’s creation. Not the only means, but definitely one of them. For a religious person to view science as something to be feared and shunned is a gigantic mistake. You are throwing away one of the greatest gifts God has given us.

Well said.

" NL, your claims are not supported by the Scriptures."

Your posts are filled with invective, vitriol and insults, but little else.

Roman Catholics and most Christians believe the "Fruit of the Spirit" consists of virtuous characteristics engendered in the Christian by the action of the Holy Spirit. They are those listed in Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

The Roman Catholic Church adds to this list generosity, modesty, and chastity.

Would you care to explain how your posts exhibit and embrace the Holy Spirit?

Look, I have stated that even though the godless liberals, atheists, Darwinists, ACLU, etc, have managed to run God out of our schools and public places they are not going to run Him off the pages of FR. Even so, the Darwin Central trolls have maintained an ongoing flame war against our forum and posters ever since they started up their little anti-Freeper hell hole and recently it’s been like open warfare. “Debate” has not and will not work. We are not going to debate away or negotiate away our God-given rights. If the Darwinist continue their warfare against FR, I will continue banning the trolls they send in.
