Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site
12/11/2009 | Jim Robinson

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

Thanks for that quote. It’s a great tagline - mind if I borrow it? (mine is too depressing).

“Well metmom, if you can find the link, let me know, because that’s the first instance I’ve seen on FR of someone who believes in evolution saying those intrepret the bible literally are “not Christian”.”

I thought you’d never ask.....

For the record as well, I don’t know anybody who insists or demands that the entire Bible be read in a literal, word for word fashion, without recognizing poetry, song, parable, metaphor, etc.

There’s an unfortunate tendency amongst many evolutionists to portray one who reads Genesis as being a narrative and fact, and in some cases literal, as demanding that the whole Bible be read in a literal word for word fashion. That is not the case.

I believe that every word is inspired and true, but not that everything be read as literal. If that were the case, then one would be in a position of making some absolutely absurd readings of songs and poetry. And then there’s the problem that when Jesus taught in parables and said they were parables, if one read them literally, one would be reading them contrary to the express intent that Jesus Himself said He was giving them in.

You just can’t read as literal what Jesus said wasn’t.

That whole issue of believing in evolution is so complex. Salvation is not based on one’s view of creation and the *correct* interpretation of Genesis, it’s based on Christ’s work on the cross and our faith in it.

No one has any business telling someone who believes in evolution that they aren’t a Christian or that they are going to hell for that reason.

Personally, I think that God did the best, most concise job telling us what He did in the fewest words possible. And that is that He created different classifications of animals with potential for great variation, but that life did not evolve from single celled creatures over billions of years. The Bible clearly indicates separate creation events for the different categories and twice it says that God used the dust of the earth for the raw materials.

IMO, that precludes the kind of macroevolution that most of the evolutionists adhere to.

There are many Bible scholars who have different views about the age of the earth and the number of days of creation and what they mean. And most sides have some strong arguments to support their positions, and some weak areas which work against it.

Nobody that I’ve seen has a completely satisfactory explanation that totally meshes Scripture with what is observed in the fossil record.

I know that’s heresy to some adamant YECers, but that’s the way I see it.

‘The Truth from the Creator Himself’ (the YEC variation) will not give you antibiotics or cancer cures. And if you think it’s OK, then please remember Genesis and ‘having dominion’. The creation pseudoscience subverts science (which is the means of gaining dominion), and thus directly contradicts God’s intent.

"IMO, that precludes the kind of macroevolution that most of the evolutionists adhere to."

IMO the words "and God saw that it was good" (repeated many times in Genesis) preclude the notion of instantaneous, deterministic creation, and rather suggest some autonomous process with uncertain outcome. Or perhaps THIS PART of Genesis should be treated as poetic?

What's that supposed to mean?

And if you think it’s OK, then please remember Genesis and ‘having dominion’. The creation pseudoscience subverts science (which is the means of gaining dominion), and thus directly contradicts God’s intent.

Is there no end to which people will twist Scripture to support science?

That is not what is meant by dominion. Man had dominion over creation because it was given to him by God. God never specified that science was the means for *gaining* dominion. It was already mans by God's decree.

So, you're saying that people who don't do it your way (using science) are working against God and His intent?

Explain to me, please, why evolutionists complain to Christians and creationists that they don't have a monopoly on Bible interpretation, and then proceed to act as if they do?

They were self centered egotists. They cared only about themselves. If they gave a damn about anyone but themselves they wouldn’t have murdered 13 innocent people. They wouldn’t have done what they did to their parents, classmates, friends. These murderers had no problem doing what they did to their peers and their parents. Huge egos.

Yeah, they left me a note. Please. Do you want to discuss this topic or do want want make snide comments? Let me know before I waste time typing.

They had huge egos. They were self important to themselves. They didn’t think or feel outside themselves. In the middle of their madness they asked? So were you there? Did they let you know they hated Christians and murdered a few because they went to church? See how that works?

These guys didn’t focus on others. They focused on themselves. Their own wants, needs, desires. They had no clue about others, they had no empathy. They did this horrible horrific act with no concern about their classmates, no concern about their parents, sibs, family.

They didn’t focus a damn on others. They only focused on themselves, only cared about themselves and their immediate gratification.

Was every student (and that teacher) a professed Christian? Why did they murder those others? Did they murder the athletes because they were athletes? Did they murder that black athlete because he was black as one student claimed immediately during an interview outside the school? What about the other students who were murdered or injured who weren’t professed Christians, or athletes, or popular kids? Why did they murder them?

It doesn’t way that He watched it as it progressed.

It says that He did something, and saw that it was good.

Two actions.

Why read more into it than it says?

Why would you treat someone seeing something as poetic?

Jim, I am very late to this thread, and have missed most of the events you speak of because I participate in rino free threads, and a prayer ping list, as well as a media death ping list, I get pinged to pro military threads, and basically support what your stated.

I have no interest in Godless propaganda, so I don’t click on them.

God save America,
God bless America,
God bless our Troops,
God bless those who support our trooos,
God bless All babies,
God bless the pro-rights ping lists,
God bless all the prayer warriors,
God bless Freepers
And
God bless you and your family!!!!

I think you get the gist of what I am saying.

Mormons are just outside the definition.

Here “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” aka LDS, Mormon is called “other”

Neither will evolutionary theory. Fleming found penicillin without Darwinism. If fact evolutionary theory is irrelevant to the most important discoveries that affect our lives.

No, it will prevent you from ever needing to be concerned with such foolish poisons. The cure is always prevention; he took our diseases on the cross!

Mentally deranged kid. There ya go.

Maybe his mental derangement had something to do with his murdering 13 innocent people.

So his parents told him he was evolved from animals and there was no purpose to his life?

Your post makes no sense, no offense intended since I’ve read a few of your posts here and usually agree.
