Boxer: Hacked 'Climategate' emails may face criminal probe By Michael O'Brien - 12/02/09 03:26 PM ET

Leaked emails allegedly undermining climate change science should be treated as a criminal matter, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said Wednesday.

Boxer, the top Democrat on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said that the recently-released emails, showing scientists allegedly overstating the case for climate change, should be treated as a criminal matter.

"You call it 'Climategate,' I call it 'E-mail-theft-gate,'" she said during a committee meeting on Wednesday. "Whatever it is, the main issue is are we facing global warming or are we not. I'm looking at these emails, that, even though they were stolen, are now out in the public."

The emails, from scientists at the University of East Anglia, were obtained through email hacking. The messages showed the director of the university's Climate Research Unit discussing ways to strengthen the unit's case for global warming. Climate change skeptics have seized on the e-mails, arguing that they demonstrate manipulation in environmental science.

Boxer said her committee may hold hearings into the matter, as its top Republican, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), has asked, but that a criminal probe would be part of any such hearings.

"We may well have a hearing on this, we may not. We may have a briefing for senators, we may not," Boxer said. "Part of our looking at this will be looking at a criminal activity which could have well been coordinated."

"This is a crime," Boxer said.

Right on, Boxer, glad you’re coming around that this is evidence of criminal conspiracy among the ManBearPig devotees. Because you certainly couldn’t be talking about a criminal investigation of an act like releasing data that didn’t even occur in the United States.

My dog won’t even admit he’s part Boxer anymore. He says he’s a Golden Retriever. If he’s challenged on that, he will only admit that there was some sort of “pugilist” in his background.

Very funny. :)
This is almost as good as the joke I saw yesterday, I think, about the excuse the CRU folks in Hadley could use for why they’re missing their raw data: “My Dogma ate my homework.”

Piltdown: The Man that Never Was

http://www.unmuseum.org/piltdown.htm

Piltdown was proclaimed genuine by several of the most brilliant British scientists of the day: Arthur Smith Woodward, Arthur Keith and Grafton Elliot Smith. How did these faked fragments of bone fool the best scientific minds of the time?

Bish. I'm so sure she had the same reaction to the Pentagon Papers.

Dear God, please, please, please, let someone have caught these comments on tape. We need some really good audio for her opposition’s campaign commercials.

"How did these faked fragments of bone fool the best scientific minds of the time?"

Most scientific minds have zero interest in nonsense like evolution.

SMARTY: “What a babbling idiot she is!”

From the article: ‘”You call it ‘Climategate,’ I call it ‘E-mail-theft-gate,’” she said during a committee meeting on Wednesday. “Whatever it is, the main issue is are we facing global warming or are we not. I’m looking at these emails, that, even though they were stolen, are now out in the public.”’
++++++++++++++

What on God’s green earth is she saying? Yes, honey, the main issue is ‘are we facing global warming or are we NOT!!’

The email releasers are whistleblowers against the defrauding of the entire world. So Babs, are you trying to say that email ‘theft’ is more important than that?

To say she’s moronic, is an insult to morons.

The cover up of the most massive scientific fraud ever hoisted on the planet is not the crime, but discovering the cover up is...

There. Modified it for ya.

LOL!! My dog is a Pug/Boxer mix. I think from now on I'll refer to her as a "Pugilist."

Barbara Boxer was among the top 24 involved in the House bank scandal. On March 1, 1992 the Sacramento Bee quoted Boxer as admitting she didn’t pay enough attention to her House bank account. More specifically, that meant 143 bad checks totaling $41,417 over a three-year period that she had written on the House bank.

Boxer’s excuse: “Wow, I just thought it was free money!”

Trainloads.

Ropes are fairly simple to reuse.

Pikes, not so much; there are certain natural processes that must transpire prior to reuse.

Processes that are even slower in the winter.

This is like ACORN suing the people that cought them.

All dems and this woman need fired from their jobs. This is really getting VERY RIDICULOUS!

Does she really think that she can skirt-chase this issue in this manner?

Since when does the US have jurisdiction of events in the UK.

The hacker might have been doing it from the USA.

it isn’t clear to me what the criminal probe is for - her comments make it clear that the issue for her is climate change and the emails that, though stolen, are now in the public domain.

Believe some of the conspirators were/are at US institutions so there is US jurisdiction for conspiracy to commit fraud, certainly involving government funds/grants.
