Most people expect Barack Obama to lay off some of the blame for the directionless policy on Afghanistan this year on George Bush in his speech tonight at West Point. Lee Siegel at the Daily Beast expects Obama to come across as closer to his predecessor than Obama might imagine. When it comes to pursuing the war in Afghanistan, Siegel a war opponent sees Obama as Bush Lite, and the speech as a manipulation of high order:

Don’t worry boys, Obama will do everything he can to see us lose the war.
I would say Bush was Obama light.
Bush used a credit card that said “bill to tax payers.”
I’m sure bambi knows it wouldn’t be a very good idea to go to West Point and start blaming President Bush. I don’t think that’d go over well.
Barry O. is Lite allright and he is Bush League.
Barry wants to equivocate, not win.
>>Bush used a credit card that said bill to tax payers.<<
Chump change compared to the indebtedness the TOTUS-reader has incurred, even before any “health” care expenses...
Bush lite? HAHAHAHA!
More like Jimma Carter 2X, and that is MUCH more lite than Bush 43.
P.S.
Bush also believed the Constitution was just a worthless piece of paper if you all forgot.
More like a double dose of Carter.
He wishes.
Bush lite? No, but he may well be Lenin lite.
West Point knows full well that Obama couldn’t fill President Bush’s slippers, let alone his shoes. I believe he is making a big mistake going there. Watch the applause and see who is clapping and how loud it is compared to President Bush’s.
They are upset because he isn’t surrendering fast enough.
“Chump change compared to the indebtedness the TOTUS-reader has incurred, even before any health care expenses...”
And that is your excuse. Bush was great because he, Bush, did not spend as much as Obama although he headed us into bankruptcy, and Obama just continued.
Funny, Obama was Bush 'Heavy' when it came to Afghanistan during the campaign - he said it would become the focus of attention on the WOT if he became president. Now that Obama actually has to do something other than talk, he is dithering and setting timetables. Three years to wait out Obama's resolve is nothing to Islamists. In basketball terms Obama is telegraphing his passes - with results that unfortunately will be predictable.
So Obama actually bears utterly no resemblence to Bush whatsoever here. If this were Bush, the 40,000 troops that McChrystal requested would already be on the ground with no talk of an exit strategy other than the elimination of Taliban resistance.
Try Jimmy Carter on Steroids.
He’s certainly bush league.
Pet peeve, sorry. The other guy never said “Bush was great.” You simply wish he had.
No, Stalin lite.
