SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

Ya gotta love it when these liberal scientists use words like "homogenized" thinking the average joe doesn't understand what it means.

Homogenize means to normalize or make similar to other components. This means they "fixed" the cooling data in order to show global warming.

They did this to create the hockey-stick effect which they used to claim global warming was going to kill the planet in the next 100 years unless drastic action was taken.

From the HARRY_READ_ME file and some other programmers’ notes, I don’t think they can because there were too many undocumented “fixes” and some software filling in missing datapoints in ways they can’t analyze because it was off-the-shelf and they don’t know what it was doing.

My god, as a scientist I have always known that original data is my life blood. People may quibble over my results and what i draw from them, but I always stand by my conclusions with my data, because it is what it is.

It can provide useful years down the road for a host of reasons where the adjusted date is basically spoiled.

No serious statistician would ever destroy the original record. Especially when dealing with data that can not be regathered.

I don't think you're correct. From what I've read, they took original data from weather stations, satellite measurements, ice cores, lake bed mud strata, tree rings, etc., and then “massaged” these datum through a few computer programs, adding and subtracting stuff, to get the “fixed” data. What I'm saying is that the actual data, “un-massaged,” may still be stored somewhere.
Yeah! Their data is crap, but they fudged original data to get their desired results. I find it hard to believe that the original data from weather stations, satellites, and other scientific studies are not stored somewhere else. These jerks may want us to believe the actual data is not available, when all they've done is gotten rid of their incriminating data.

When I was working as an editor for a financial news service that tracked petrochemical prices, every reporter and analyst had bound notebooks that had to contain every scrap of information they came across. Every phone call, every calculation, every diagram, every EVERYTHING had to be in there. Of course a lot of other stuff was in there too — coffee stains, erotic doodles, joke punchlines, etc., etc... but that was considered normal and excusable.

It had to be possible for Compliance (also known as the Men in Black) to pick up a reporter’s notebook from five years ago and trace the writer’s mental trip from the raw data to the daily price for any commodity. I cannot believe that any scientist worthy of the name would work any differently.

There’s a lot of uncertainty about “core sample” records. The results appear to be unnaturally smoothed. In addition, ACTUAL measurements of CO2 going back to the mid 19th century are actually much higher than is shown. There is every indication that CO2 was as high or higher in the the 19th century, but the “extreme” values have been excluded as “outliers.”

The AP is conducting a poll on how much of a threat we think globull warming is. I just got off the phone with the pollster, having told him I didn't believe globull warming was happening, that the temperature today was likely about what it was 100 years ago, and that the temperatures since 1998 have been on the decline. I specifically mentioned the CRU lies exposed by the intercepted e-mails.

It was a very short poll...probably more of a fishing expedition than anything else. Heads up, everyone.
