7 years after GOP betrayal, Jim Ryan knows the score
Chicago Tribune ^ | 11/29/09 | John Kass

The last time Jim Ryan ran for governor of Illinois, he offered voters a clear choice between a man who never took a dime in public life and Rod Blagojevich.

And though many would like to forget it, they chose Blagojevich.

"The infrastructure of the Illinois Republican Party has never really been for me," Ryan said over breakfast the other day as we talked about that 2002 campaign and his current run in the crowded GOP primary for governor. "I'm not a deal-maker. And senior Republicans knew my reputation. They knew I wouldn't be flexible."

Seven years ago, Ryan, then Illinois attorney general, had the misfortune of having the same last name as George Ryan, the crooked Republican governor who later was indicted and sent to prison in the license-for-bribes scandal. They're not related, but George Ryan's disgrace splashed over the GOP.

To make things worse, senior Republican bosses were secretly backing the Democrat Blagojevich and stabbing Ryan in the back -- a clear illustration of the Illinois Combine at work.

Springfield Republican boss and state asphalt king William Cellini, now awaiting his own Blagojevich-related corruption trial, held a 2002 fundraiser for Blagojevich, according to federal testimony.

A teaching moment. Here at FR we are all begging; “where are our Conservative candidates”?

There’s our answer. Conservative citizens enter politics for public service to the people. Democrats, socialists and Marxists get into polltics for power over the people.

TERM LIMITS!!!!!

Will he rehabilitate himself over the poor handling of the Jeanine Nicarico case?

Yes they do, I wasn't able to prevent it when I was a County Vice Chairman.

“The infrastructure of the Illinois Republican Party has never really been for me,”

Boo-Hoo!
What a whining corrupt RINO trying to re-do his image in attempt to suck up to a crumbling GOP base.

Pathetic!

I guess it really is just one party with Rinos in charge.

This works in both directions. When a pro-life/pro-gun DEM accidentally won the primary, the combine suppressed the city vote in the election and the combine candidate, RINO George “lyin’” Ryan won.

These folks are also the reason that Peter Fitzgerald did not run for re-election, opening up the seat for Barack Obama.

In short, the Illinois Republican Party is responsible for the election of Obama.

Too many Ryans in Illinois politics - is either of these the one with the the Star Trek ex-wife sex club deal? The one who put Barack Obama in the Senate?

That was Jack Ryan. He didn’t put Zero in the Senate, the Combine put Zero in the Senate when they ran out an excellent anti-Combiner reformist incumbent in Pete Fitzgerald. The Combine had Jack Ryan’s divorce records unsealed and ran him out of the race. The “allegation” against Jack was that he wanted to have sex... with his OWN wife. The fact that his divorce records were unsealed in the first place was the real crime.

The Chicago Tribune demanded the records for candidate Jack Ryan because the public had a right to know. About 2 weeks later they wrote an editorial ripping Republicans who wanted to unseal sitting Senator and presidential candidate effen Kerry.

Jim Ryan belongs in a prison cell for attempted murder and deprivation of Civil Rights under false color of authority.

I'll never, ever vote for him.
