That was Jack Ryan. He didn’t put Zero in the Senate, the Combine put Zero in the Senate when they ran out an excellent anti-Combiner reformist incumbent in Pete Fitzgerald. The Combine had Jack Ryan’s divorce records unsealed and ran him out of the race. The “allegation” against Jack was that he wanted to have sex... with his OWN wife. The fact that his divorce records were unsealed in the first place was the real crime.

The Chicago Tribune demanded the records for candidate Jack Ryan because the public had a right to know. About 2 weeks later they wrote an editorial ripping Republicans who wanted to unseal sitting Senator and presidential candidate effen Kerry.

The illegal (?) unsealing of the Jack Ryan divorce records was preceded by a similar unsealing of the divorce records of one Blair Hull, a Demonrat zillionaire who had been twice divorced from one wife, apparently on allegations of brutality. Blair Hull, a lavishly self-financed candidate who was leading Comrade O by a substantial margin before the illegal distribution of his divorce records, sank thereafter like a lead sinker. The tactic worked so well against Hull that it was repeated against Jack Ryan. Jack Ryan allegedly wanted to have sex with his own wife (Jeri Ryan of Star Trek) but at a public sex club of some sort where their coupling would be a public performance for the lurid satisfaction of viewers. None of this speaks well for Illinois but what does? Too bad about Jack Ryan. He was otherwise a star for a wide variety of reasons. It was certainly the corrupt Combine that produced Comrade O as a Senator.
