Thanks for the info...IIRC, the prosecutors consulted with the families of Ridgeway’s victims..and overwhelming majority were OK with the decision to let him escape the death penalty in return for detailed information about other victims..including many the police were not yet even aware of at the time. Many families recalled their years of not knowing what had actually happend to their missing relatives..so they wanted to help as many others find closure. I agree with the decision. BTW..I think I saw the Sheriff on TV recently,saying that he believed that Ridgeway still had many more victims that he hadn’t divulged.

In my state there is only one sheriff to a county, that is an elected office. The other officers are sheriff’s deputies who report to the sheriff. Is it different in Washington?

They would have been deputies, although around here people will refer to the person who shows up at their rural home as “the sheriff.” However, it now appears that these four were actually all local police officers.

You are welcome for the info...regarding Gary Ridgway...for the sake of the families-I am greatful they received the needed information of the whereabouts of their loved ones remains, YET, i desire to see the man die for his crimes STILL- he should be hung (however it is done). Also, surprised this man has not received ‘prison justice’ as of yet. He must be in segregation from the rest of the general prison population. Justice still needs to be served on him. If there is still information he needs to divulge of the whereabouts of other victims, may God grant that it be made known soon.

I’m a long time fan of “Cops”...it’s my favorite reality TV series, and the Lakewood PD has often been featured on show segments..along with Pierce Country Deputies..wonder if any of the dead officers had been on the show..

How the heck did the guy get off four fatal shots(multiple shots)at such close range on armed police officers? What he just walked up to them and pulled out a gun and started to shoot? (possibly an automatic?)Have not heard if any return shots were fired as of yet. Would have thought at least one of the officers would have been able to pull a gun and return fire at the very least, wounding him... or even stopping him. At the first shot, or first sight of the gun (albeit it is all happening lightning fast, and officers had no hint this was coming) officer(s) are diving for cover and pulling out gun and shooting. Doesn’t make sense to me though. Had to be an automatic, even so...how was he able to walk up on them (i.e. ‘shot at close range’)- did the officers know him from previous arrest or encounter with perp? All questions I would like to have answered in due time.

yeah...POSSIBLY if it was an automatic of some kind, which has not been confirmed yet, that i know of...hard to believe that is how it happened, it is tough to kill all four without any return fire, i.e. not getting hit or wounded himself.

...so you believe what? Four officers all sitting down, gunmen comes in pulls gun on first officer shoots and kills officer, turns gun on second officer, shoots and kills second officer (no return fire as of yet), HAS TIME to turn gun on third officer (still no return fire), shoots and kills him, and then the fourth officer, officers all were wearing bullet proof vests, so kill shots were MOST LIKELY to the head, at close range? Is this how you see the ‘tactic’ of the gunmen? Seems to me there are multiple problems with this scenario, just saying.
