Strict regulations on diesel emissions that the California Air Resources Board approved in December 2008 are coming under renewed fire. At the time, members of the trucking industry and others complained that CARB was acting all Chicken Little and exaggerating how bad the diesel emissions were for human health. Since then, it turns out, one of the scientists involved in the study that detailed the negative health effects misrepresented his credentials. Instead of getting his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of California Davis, Hien Tran actually got a mail-order Ph.D. from a "university" based at a mailbox at a UPS office in New York City.

****Hien Tran actually got a mail-order Ph.D. from a “university” based at a mailbox at a UPS office in New York City.****
His rationale; UPS does not use deisel trucks!!!!
Exposure is the best medicine.
Probably the same place Obama got his citizenship authenticated.
now if CARB would put their study back up that shows that ethanol produced 2-2.5 times as much CO2 as gasoline does. They took it down when Auhnuld got to them.
The new law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2010
Junk science from a junk PhD........LMAO!
The CARB has cost the diesel industry literally hunders of millions of dollars to comply with their fraud. California ought to have to pay the bill. In fact, I would sell any diesels in the whole state.
California is destroying themselves and the United States is using it for a learning tool to destroy the rest of the country. We even have a Californian (Nancy Pelousy) teaching it.
California can’t pay the bills they already have. I suppose they could pass out more IOUs.
They probably will continue the IOUs.
Yep, I look for them to hand out IOUs with the new 10% addition on the withholding. Next spring there will be a whole lot of pi**ed off CA taxpayers when they get a peice of wall paper in the mail saying, “Here’s your refund!”. Might as well say, “Here’s your sign”, because us CA taxpayers have only our own stupidity to blame, at least those who vote Democrat. I have nothing to be ashamed of, I live in a Red county, but we are vastly outnumbered by illegals, voter fraud and the liberal cities.
Entertaining, but for people who understand this bunch, irrelevant. They will simply find someone with legitimate credentials that will make the same case. And that is because science has nothing to do with their agenda.
Another Sham-WOW moment! We need more of these people exposed.
More junk science...

Tran is probably better educated than: Gore, Pelosi, Kerry, Ob0z0 and the rest of Congress in bed with the Gorebull Warming Scamers.
Hien worked at the California
Department of Transportation and was an instructor of mathematics and statistics in the
Los Rios Community College District for several years.
Just thought of this one. A little humor there (I know, very little).
I have a low-level degree in environmental science and have been found in some science debate to be a formidable adversary. There are very obvious reasons for a conservative environmental scientist to use nontraditional educational opportunities.
Benjamin Franklin
President Thomas Jefferson
Michael Faraday, who had only a grammar school education Jack Horner, who never finished college
All of them are among amateur or “citizen” scientists who made important contributions to their fields without advanced degrees or university appointments.
