Below is a letter I am considering sending to my local newspapers and placing on my blog. I would like to solicite comments/advice/recommendations from Freepers before I send it out.
I suppose the three of you, along with the rest of your fellow Congressmen and Senators cannot help it. I can see where all of you Republicans and Democrats believe the American public to be foolish and stupid. On a daily basis, government - from the local level on up to the Federal behemoth - confronts the citizens with its inadequacy, incompetence, and stupidity. We the citizens have no one to blame but ourselves for letting you get by with what you are attempting to do. We truly do get the government we deserve.
All an individual has to do is look up different nations and their universal health care in order to see it is a failure. However, that may be too difficult for the average citizen. If it is difficult for some of you, then all you have to do is look within the United States to see the abysmal failure of universal health care. Look at the Tennessee the tried it and deserted it. The same is true with Hawaii. Look at Massachusetts and the troubles they are having within their state. Moreover, if that is not bad enough, if you want to look at how bad government run health care is, look at the health care the government provides to American Indians and to military veterans.
The three of you know this even if the average citizen does not. The three of you count on the average citizen to pay more attention to what passes for entertainment on television and at the theaters than to their own country. The three of you, along with the rest of Congress, have fooled a great majority of this nation. However, there are those of us who you cannot fool. I am one of those. In addition, people like me are growing on a daily basis.
I gave 18 years of my life in defense of this nation, more years than the three of you combined have done. I swore an oath to defend this nation and its Constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic. What you are attempting to do by forcing universal health care down the collective throat of the American public, is against the Constitution. That makes the three of you domestic enemies.
In order to fight against you and your ilk, I have written and called your offices numerous times. There are times I cannot get through due to other citizens attempting to make their voices heard. The times I do get through, I talk to aides who either pretend ignorance or are truly ignorant. The Congressional and Senate aides seem to have no knowledge of anything of their bosses intentions. Yet, even with the thousands of calls and letters you receive against certain legislation, you continue to pass it, ignoring the will of the constituents you claim to represent.
Congressman Hoyer! Senator Cardin! Senator Mikulski! Let me remind you of some simple factual truths. One - we the constituents, the citizens, the American public do not work for you! You work for us! Yet, you continue to ignore the will of your constituents. Two - we demand you work within the confines of the United States Constitution. Again, you continue to ignore the Constitution and us. This will not stand.
I am not going to waste space by listing what is unconstitutional with either the Senate or House version of the health care bill. You already know. For the average citizen reading this letter, my advice is to get off your rear end and find out how this Congress is attempting to destroy this nation. I will not waste time by listing what can truly make health care better. You three already know. However, in order to make health care truly better would mean for the Congress to relinquish control. You will not do that.
You ignore our phone calls. You ignore our letters. You ignore our emails. You refuse to hold town meetings or hold them in controlled environments. You use union thugs and goons at these town halls to intimidate concerned citizens. Be advised! I will work hard and continuously to see that the three of you voted out of office. If not this election, then the next one. I will write letters, make phone calls, and continually expose your corruption and cowardice to all within and without Maryland. Moreover, I am not alone. As I write this, there are millions of us mobilizing to see you and your ilk kicked out of Congress.
The RINOs reading this letter do not get comfortable. We know who you are, also. We know you align yourself with the statists. We will name names and ensure the removal of RINOs from positions of power. Do you hear me RNC Chairman Steele?
Go for it! It just tells it how it is.
Nope, too long. Cut to the chase and tell them in one sentence because of their support for the bill, they have lost your support.
Looking good, have not finished yet but:
the tried it and deserted it = theY tried it and deserted it
A fine piece of work.I hope it gets some results, but I think we are counting on 2010 to move these people out of office. I doubt they will change.
Seriously - thank you for your service.
I’m with you. One sentence, maybe two but no more, telling them we will work to vote them out because of their unconstitutional actions in voting for this health care sham.
It is the job of their constituents to replace them when they displease those same constituents.
I fear that this Congress actually is doing the will of the average voter - which means, perforce, that restoring the Republic is going to require more than voting.
I like it. You are absolutely right more need to wake up not just us. I am seeing more people ask me questions as time goes on. Just trying to get them to take some ownership of their own and in the following months I think we will see more of this. Tea party frame work has been established. There will be a surge of people getting involved I believe as we get closer to the elections and a bit of differences of opinions in the Tea Parties but it will work its self out on the value side of things. I am Hopeful for a real positive return to the Constitution Change in America over the next several years and 2010 will be a watershed moment in the change.
I guess that I spent to much time around them when in the Navy. My best man at my wedding was a Marine. Does that count?
It will be partially read by an intern, then you will receive a form letter in response.
These thieving usurpers will not take us seriously until a few of them are swinging from a stout oak tree.
Remember they exempt themselves from the health care plan......
That speaks volumes.

That speaks volumes.
You only left out how disgusted we are when we watch these crooks congratulate each other for a nightmare they will never have to deal with — tell them if they don’t sign up for Obamacare, we won’t either...
I think it makes a good editorial. You can send it to them but they nor their aides will read it.
I love the part about the people in the office acting like idiots who know nothing, doncha just love how they try to act like they care while appearing totally clueless?
Too long — they’ll never read it. I doubt that the person who opens the mail will read it all. Also, you spend many words making the same point. It is a great venting rant, but you need to boil it down to 2 or 3 short paragraphs.
I was in the Navy 18 years. Over the time, spent time with Marines. Good men all. Good, friendly rivalary.
