the thing is, the vampire aspect is only the mechanism to tell the story. it’s the love story that attracts, not the vampire angle at a;;. it could have been about robots or anything else and still been good.
My girl is only 7 months old but there is no flippin’ way I’d let her read Twilight. Too many unhealthy suggestions, not to mention the writing is horrible.
No. I'm with you.
Am I the only mom in the known western culture universe who thinks this obsession with the UNDEAD being foisted upon our teen girls is horribly perverse???!!!
****
No, you are not. The only reason I read this thread as far as your comment was because I was looking for such. I am just as appalled as you are.
My children, however, are grown men, so I don’t have to deal with this directly, but I find it very troubling for our culture.
I second that thought. My daughters are caught up in this vampire thing too.
No you are not. I watched the first film and to be honest the sexual tension between the actors was quite intense and I can’t understand why parents would feed this to their tweens.
No. My son’s ex-girlfriend and her mother had him read the first book. He said it’s not a romance novel. I said, oh yes it was and it deals with vampires, which I am not okay with. He didn’t get to read the rest of them or go see the movies. I think it’s really sick.
