Army Keeping Media From Palin Event (at Fort Bragg; Afraid of Obama's Wrath)

Army officials plan to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg on Monday, saying they fear the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press on Thursday that Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book promotion at the North Carolina base.

McCollum said the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."

Diversity is not about freedom of political thought.

Political Correctness is a Soviet term. It seeks to SQUASH dissent.

It’s done wonders to supress the writings of “dead white European males” in colleges. But if it upends Western civilization, by all means, bring it on.

IMHO, having the media there would corrupt the event. I doubt the media would report that this event was planned before the terrorist attack, that Palin offered to cancel, but the brass at Ft. Hood wanted her to carry on. Rather, it would be played as Palin climbing over the 14 bodies to place herself in the spotlight.
In this instance, I believe that no press is good press.

When the viral videos come out, the impact will be greater than the MSM could deliver. They help her every step of the way, and don’t even realize it.

All they are doing is restricting the press from — covering it? Being there? Publicizing it? But they cannot restrict her from speaking there, right? I think our great Army guys can handle this challenge ... Watch for YouTubes.

Thought this was about Ft. Hood, not Ft. Bragg

Ugh. Afraid of Political Grandstanding against Zero?

How is that even a legitimate reason? Why is Zero so afraid of Sarah? Because she’s twice the leader he could ever dream of being and because she resonates with people in a much deeper manner than hollow words like Hope and Change could ever possible resonate.

It’s safe to say anyone attending will be photographed... not incidentally but deliberately.

WASHINGTON—First Lady Michelle Obama—in her first out of town visit since taking over the East Wing—visits with soldiers and their families at Fort Bragg in North Carolina on Thursday. She mingled with soldiers at a base mess hall, signed a chef’s hat and met with more than 20 military families.

During a stop at the Prager Child Development Center on the base, Mrs. Obama read the Dr. Seuss classic, “The Cat in the Hat.”

That’s the way they roll. The U.S. Military does not condone in any public way, political partisanship against the CinC. No matter who that may be.

The Army is keeping the media away because the cameras would show a very enthusiastic and energetic crowd greeting someone who loves the troops and doesn’t view them as a photo op.

The grunts on the ground know intuitively who is on their side. And they respect a blue star mother!

Enough isn’t made of the fact that Sarah Palin is a Blue Star Mother!

As an US Army vet, I am totally embarrassed at the current Army leadership.

If the Army was so worried about a Gov. Palin appearance being covered by the media, why have her there in the first place?

Our troops deserve better leadership

“McCollum said the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions “directed against the commander in chief.”

McCollum stepped WAY out of his lane to say this. I have extreme doubts this would be the Army’s official line. A post-level PA rep, which McCollum is, shouldn’t have couched his response in political terms. When I was a PAer in the Air Force, politics was considered a third rail. You just didn’t go there.

Your suggestion is most likely correct regarding the decision from a high source.

The brass probably received a telephone conversation laced with profanities and blasphemies courtesy of Rahm Emmanuel.
