\ The Seopy mutiny was caused by a false report that the rounds in the paper cartridges were greased with pork fat. The problem was, the Sepoys would have to voluntarily and knowingly bite off the paper that contained pig fat. It was untrue, but that's what caused the mutiny.
I can’t cite it off the top of my head, but it did happen.
And its not made its way into the history books.
I got the story off a British Regimental page which had a lot of historical diary writings. I think it was the Black Watch or some such.
