Reporting from Ft. Hood, Texas - President Obama is slated to speak at a memorial service today at this grieving Army base, where a military psychiatrist is accused of killing 13 people in a shooting rampage.
The service, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. local time, will be a traditional military affair, with a sermon, a roll call of the dead and a rifle volley. About 3,000 spectators, as well as the families of the 12 soldiers and one civilian killed, are expected to attend.
The tribute comes amid new questions about whether the shooting, in which dozens were also wounded, could have been prevented.
Authorities said Monday that the FBI and Army had apparently looked into contacts between the suspected gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and a Yemen-based militant Islamist prayer leader with ties to the Sept. 11 hijackers.
Investigators are poring over numerous e-mails sent by Hasan to Anwar al Awlaki and apparently to other Islamist figures, said a federal law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

To be fair, everyone who saw the bizzare indifference in the unedited remarks by Obama knows the deal now. Nothing he says matters now.

I think the MSM and the Dems will laud today's speech by Obama as the modern day sermon on the mount as they always do. Obama’s appearance will be heavily scripted with no opportunity for extemporaneous speech of any kind. At least I hope so for the families.
I understand scheduling conflicts, but, imho, if Obama really cared, he would have been in Fort Hood right after the incident, like President and Mrs. Bush were. President Bush and Mrs. Bush visited not seeking attention, but to render their condolences, comfort and respect.

Good luck if you did want to go. His being there will put big restrictions on who can be there and the number of people who can be there. I skipped my college graduation ceremony in 1975 because Ford was the speaker. I would have been restricted in the number of guests to my wife and father, everyone else excluded. Everyone had to be cleared and in their seats hours before. It detracts from the ceremony and in this case the solemnity of the sad occasion; makes it all about him which is what he wants.
Needs to be a Joe Wilson who will give a “shout out.” You can bet that this service will be as micromanaged and controlled as other appearances by Sotero. The attendees will be thoroughly lectured beforehand, and any inadvertent slip-ups will be immediately edited out before broadcasting.
He shows up when the cameras will be on. Bush has already been there without the cameras, reporters, etc. but as a true American who cares for something other than the photo op.

Don't worry, SeeBS-Viacommie would pull the same stunt they did when the NYPD and NYFD booed Hillary Clinton at the Concert for NYC following the 9/11 attacks. They overdubbed the boos with cheers for all subsequent and home video releases.
And things at this Fort Hood ceremony could deteriorate very quickly. Obama wants to be very careful how he conducts himself today.

Obama said awful things about our military when he was running in the primary. All of his visits with so called veterans groups during that time were actually anti-war vet groups started by anti-war leftists. The media NEVER informed the American people who these ‘vets’ were...they purposely allowed the American people to believe that Obama had some level of support from our military. It’s all an ILLUSION!!
It's been days. He's been "busy" pushing through Obamacare.
When he got before the cameras on the DAY of the shooting, he waited 90 seconds after some shout outs and talk of other agenda items before even MENTIONING the shooting.
He's had his "my pet goat" moment.
