It would be appropriate to let him know how much we appreciate his vote. Not for the value of the vote, but because he gave the Dhims cover to say that it was "bipartisan."
Orientals and other races from 3rd World or other corrupt govt societies are used to and accepting of corruption. Selling his vote, this apparent Vietnamese guy, was in accord with his past culture.
One of the big problems in the Vietnam war, though not as serious a threat as the Dem Party betrayal of South Vietnam via arms cutoff, was long the corruption in the South Vietnamese Govt and Army where collaboration for money and selling of U.S.provided weapons to the enemy was done frequently. Self and family well being trumping the survival of the Country.
They come here and are supposed to act different? Not!
I have links into the USA Chinese community...and there are Chinese who, for freebies, happily will sell their votes.
Gore and the Buddhist Temple priests ring a bell?

LOL! She also claimed to be "conservative" and "republican". Yet she endorsed the Democrat.
We learn that she's a) a liberal, b) a duplicitous liar.
You can continue supporting the DedeKos candidate.
Well you should stop being deluded that a Republican win in Ny23 would’nt have made a difference in blocking Pelosi’s agenda considering the margin of votes was very tight.
Now that would be far more constructive
No, actually what would be more constructive is to thank the 12 Democrats who broke with their party on the motion to recommit. roll call 886.
Now we all know that the 39 who voted against final passage essentially got permission to do so. But the 12 who voted against this procedural vote would not have had time to coordinate that vote.
IMHO
In case you missed it, Pelosi won the vote with 220 votes. She needed 218. How would have Scozzy’s vote changed anything, especially since Nanny likely had a few more Rat votes up her sleeve just in case.
You’re the one suffering from strange delusions.
Loved the lingo! Understood it all! You're #1 GI
If we indeed believe in the rally cry Principle Before Party!,
then what #10 did was follow some hidden principle. Very probably he was swayed by the personal call from the Impostor in Chief.
My point is to hammer him as a traitor was to use the reverse paradigm of Party before Principle - You were a republican, vote with the republicans.
I'd much rather have democrats agreeing with republicans over principles, than to worry about one republican that crossed the line.
His agenda is now out. His principles have been revealed. His district will now have to decide in Nov '10 what to do with him.
He did what they wanted. He is in a highly democratic district.
He represented his district. He did not sell his vote.
You are full of it. The Vietnamese here are some of the most conservative anti-Obama people in the U.S. My wife is Vietnamese and she says your language is crude and offensive.
Then you proved my point. I would much rather have these politicians representing the views of their districts, then to be following some DC Party Hack.
Principle Before Party!
If a Repub had won in NY23 then Cao could have forced to toe the party line and the vote could have flipped to the other side.
A morale boasting win in Ny23 would have enabled Republicans to got more blue dogs to our side but a embarrassing loss in a overwhelming Republican district put a brake to that.
In politics every seat matter and Dems fight hard for it even in Republican strongholds, you are deluded if you think NY23 did’nt matter in the health care debate.
So, just keep on posting your party-over-principle nonsense and see how far it gets you...
Nearly all Republicans with the exception of one were united in their opposition to the health care plan.
That includes even some very liberal Republicans in the house.
And yet you think the Republican nominee in Ny23 with her known and publicised opposition to the public option would’nt have backed the party on the health care debate.
You are underestimating the effect of party unity on important votes.
It was rather foolish for the third party candidate to sabotage the campaign and hand over to the opppostion a Republican district.
Jefferson would have won handily in the 65% African American Louisiana 2nd Congressional District if the general election would have been held during the Presidential election.
Cao barely defeated Jefferson, primarily because most of the Jefferson supporters were still in a post-election euphoria over Obama's election.
Jefferson was convicted on August 6th on 11 of 16 counts. His sentencing hearing is this Friday. The prosecution is recommending 27 to 33 years in prison.
Cao will be defeated in 2010 by any Democrat candidate who can fog a mirror.
creme de caCao
I have several Vietnamese friends. They think ANY language, but theirs is harsh, crude and offensive. I laugh when I hear them say that other languages are not “musical” and “delicate”. I love them dearly, but realize I sound like an ogre when I speak, although I’ve always been told I have a very cultured speaking voice and it is light and full of laughter.
Rep. Cao’s position is complicated, but better to support the views of your constituency than follow your own light. After all, that’s the job he was elected to do.
Cao went on Olberman’s show to last night.
He is NOT a Republican.
