Pelosi has the votes
The Politico ^ | November 7, 2009 | Ben Smith

Posted on 11/07/2009 6:23:21 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

POLITICO reports:

Hours before an expected vote on a sweeping health care bill, House Democrats believe they've secured the 218 votes they need to approve the bill, several party insiders said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the House floor about 6:30 p.m. to say, “Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act.. . .We will make history. We will also make progress for America's working families."

Thirty-two Democrats have publicly declared their opposition to the bill, giving party leaders the narrowest possible margin to push the bill across the finish line. But numerous sources said Democrats believe they do have the votes after a day of intense lobbying of wavering Democrats.

I’ve got some vacation time I can take, could work my way around a deadline (spent all day today working to get ahead), and go there with you. I’m crying now, and saw Pelosi already lying how this is for the “American people,” with her nodding bobble-head Marxist pets standing by her side.

Question , what WOULD it take the government to do before you would consider civil unrest?

Psst ... hey Borax Queen ... don’t tell anybody but this crusty ol’ retired Army guy is teary-eyed too. It’s a combination of anger, sadness, and the feeling of helplessness. I think the only thing that will cure my sniffles is going out and doing something about it. I guess if we want our country back, we need to take it back.

Ok AGAIN , we need leadership , and organization on a NATIONAL level. We need to act EXACTLY like the left , money , lawyers , protesters , offices and LEADERS .
It’s a massive job but we need to educate those who don’t kno wor believe the TRUTH about what’s going on here. Then we need to pick times and dates and targets . Someone with face recognition , someone with the natural skill to put together a massive plan and organize all the like minded grouos out there.
There are jobs for everyone. we would need people to man phones , drive busses , do research and most of all to hit the streets once the plan is made.

You totally called it about the combination.
I feel like a stake has been driven through
MY heart when it should have been driven through
that rat-infested house. All our work since
June or so and they just flipped us off.

Do you understand that the love of freedom runs that deep, that people here in America, in large numbers are wiling to endure whatever it takes to regain freedom? Do we have families? For now. Do you understand where this will take us? The purest and best socialists believe families are a form of oppression that can only be relived by total state control over the upbringing of children. When they are done, family as we know it will be over too. In the words of Tolkien, we have to leave the comfort of the shire now, else there won’t be a shire to come back to.

“But, thats your choice and you are free to make it.”

Precisely. Change is needed, and there are some of us who are willing to bring about that change while we STILL have the ability to choose and the freedom to do it.

Michael Steele is a disgrace.

He was cackling like a girl, joking and laughing on Fox (I think with Geraldo? I'm losing my mind) right after the announcement. Just like I couldn't believe the "news conference" the other day from Hussein, I couldn't believe how happy Steele sounded tonight. Am I still on our planet???? Did I fall down Alice's rabbit hole??

Yes, Michael Steele is as worthless as you-know-what on a boar hog. Lindsey Graham is another one. Bob Martinez is another one. That Cristy guy who is our governor is another one. I have no use for any of those characters.

I have been a proud Republican all my life — until after the last election. I am now a Conservative. There is no room in my life for mealy-mouthed so-called Republicans.

You’re on the right planet — but it’s infested with bozo’s from outer space. It’s our planet. We need to keep it. We really, really do.

So, it’s not over. We get to continue our march to get our country back. The 2010 election will be huge. And it’s less than a year away.Do you have a year’s worth of hard work in you?

We can take this as a defeat or we can take back our country!

Beck has already anticipated this. He has on previous occasions called for massive passive resistance, Gandhi-style. I think he’s right. At some point all these words cranked out by our insular Congress are, to quote famously, “just words.” They must be implemented by real people, our friends, neighbors and fellow Americans. If enough people simply sit on their thumbs and fail to implement a bad law, there is nothing a tiny band of congressoids can do about it. This method is ethical, non-violent and has a history of working against some of the most egregious regimes. Many of us may pay a price we would rather not, but for the love of freedom, there is no price too high.

I guess she was right.

Does a majority REALLY want this?

Or is this just a bunch special interest groups pushing it through?

Please tell me this isn’t happening!!!!!

Look..this is the way I see it. Those of us who are not in favor of this healthcare thing, are the minority.

First, I will bet you, half the country doesnt even know what its all about. They are busy with their daily things, watch little news..and dont grasp what it all means. I am sure everyone knows people like this. I sure do.

Then, out of the rest of us, who know whats what..you have the morons who think oooooh free healthcare. They dont realize they will be paying for this..in premiums and taxes. Then there are those who have no healthcare, thru no fault of their own.

Have you been around the net much..besides forums like this? People on forums that deal with health, or other issues are discussing this too. Many of them, for one reason or another..have no healthcare. On one forum, I read story after story..and after reading a while..you feel sorry for them..because to them..any healthcare is better than no healthcare. So..these people are for it.

Now..take us. Those who dont want it and can see where this is leading. How many people do you think you will get to support any civil unrest?

We are over 300 million people in this country. We already had a march on washington..with a large group. But, how many werre there? 100 million? 200 million? No..considering the size of this country..there was a tiny, tiny amount of people there.

Do you see where I am going with this? We are not the majority..and out of all of us..if you couldnt get everyone who doesnt want healthcare out there, previously, you certainly wont get them out there now.

So, this leaves a handful of people..that will be arrested, then ignored.

Believe me. I would love to see somebody do something. I just dont think anything will work..because THEY are in charge and we are not.

First of all, we all have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. It is happening. We have to accept that if we are to muster an effective response. Denial doesn’t buy us anything.

Second, as others have pointed out, it is not law yet, and it is not on schedule because we are having a real effect on the process. It still has to make it through the Senate, and there will be a constitutional challenge after that. In my mind, the last formal barrier to the implementation of this law hangs on how the current Supreme Court views the Commerce Clause. There are some excellent arguments that SCOTUS has, over the long haul, been trending toward a curtailment of the Commerce Clause, and that is good news.

However, having said that, if we are dealing with true Marxists, even SCOTUS may bend its judgment to conform to tyrannical pressures unseen by the public. In that event, we must not waver or show the least sign of surrendering our birthright as Americans. We are a free people, and so we shall remain, God helping us.

Sorry but I dont want to get arrested. I’m not sharing a cell with Bubba or Leroy so they can smack me up every night.

Murdered in jail with illegals and thugs, or murdered defending my rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

So it looks like I will be dying a violent death.

So many things I didn’t get to see in America..Rushmore, Hollywood, National Archives, Washington Monument, Arlington, list goes on.
