Declaring Religions, plural, not permissable, no. Declaring one religion, specifically Islam, is incompatable with freedom, absolutely.

And who gets to decide that and how? There are plenty of liberals who consider Christianity incompatible with freedom, which is why it's such a punching bag in the mainstream media. And there are plenty of atheists who believe all religion is incompatible with freedom. Whould you put them in charge of deciding which religions get the stamp of approval and which don't? That's how totalitarian thinking always work. People imagine people who think like they do getting to decide who gets liberty and who doesn't, but the problem is that it never works out that way and once you give people the power to decide such things, it never stops where you want it to stop.

Muslims are involved in nearly every major conflict on the planet.

If you haven't noticed, in the Balkans, it took three to tango, with Catholic, Orthodox, and Muslims all taking turns abusing each other when they had the power to do so.

Muslims have been involved in nearly every major terrorist event in the past.

But not every one, because there is that pesky Timothy McVeigh, whose ideas weren't all that different from a lot of people who post here. Oh, and Eric Rudolph. Yeah, he had a lot of views that are fairly common here, too. And before that, we had the left-wing radicals of the 1960s and 1970s who were probably mostly atheists.

Yes, I understand that there are some particularly nasty sects of Islam but what you seem to be missing is that not all Muslims are Fundamentalists or Islamonazis just like most conservatives are not going to blow up a government building, an Olympics venue, or an abortion clinic. You are playing the same game the left plays when they try to paint all conservatives as a Timothy McVeigh in training and they use the same arguments to try to suppress conservative speech and Christianity. Liberty is always at odds with security, hence the quote, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

I get it. I get the slippery slope argument. If we dont defend someone's right to be a muslim then what happens when they come for christians....I get it, I just dont care right now.

And that's the problem, isn't it? Totalitarian governments and genocides don't happen because people start out picking a totalitarian government or a genocide. They start out because people are frightened and are willing to sacrifice their liberties and principles to feel safe again.

I care more about not getting killed in a plane flying into a building, or burying soldiers because some fool wanted to kill them before they could go fight, or worse, not seeing a mushroom cloud over a major US city.

I care a great deal about the mushroom cloud but persecuting innocent Muslims in the United States isn't going to stop that. Going after the countries building nuclear bombs might. And you have a greater chance of dying from all sorts of things than you have of dying from a Muslim terrorist taking over a plane you are one (I say this as someone who had flown on United's flight 93 out of Newark before 9/11). Think of all the lives we could save if we banned cars or carefully controlled what people eat? Again, does that sound like a conservative line of thinking to you?

When the mob moves on to try to get rid of a religion that isn't chock full, right now in the present day and age, of fanatics who wake up every morning and spend their day training to kill Americans, or spend every spare dollar trying to fund such activity, then I will make my empassioned stand against the mob. Right now, we're under attack, and need to let Allah sort them out.

The problem is that by then, it's always too late. The solution is to go against the fanatics who are training in closed paramilitary camps just like the government investigates closed hate group camps and militias and to not let Muslims get away with demanding special treatment, but the solution is not to persecute innocent Muslims, many of whom are not members of radical sects. Make sensible distinctions rather than concemning an entire group.

“Notice to any jihad wannabees: pull your crap around here, we will kill you.”

Your phraseology has a nice ring to it. Most Americans would love to see such a sign posted on their military bases. Might want to consider selling bumper stickers, too!

More Information on Fort Hood Shooting Suspect

Posted: Nov 05, 2009 6:07 PM CST
Updated: Nov 05, 2009 7:26 PM CST

Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July.

The officials had access to Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan's military record. They said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.

Federal law enforcement officials say the Hasan came to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He was 39 years old.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

History tells the tale.

If you don’t see this, you need to read up on the history of Islam.

And there are plenty of neo-Pagans who curse the day Christianity came to Europe. History is what it is. I think there is plenty to be troubled by in Islam but we're not going to win the war of ideas by sounding as crazy, dangerous, and genocidal as they do. Remember, plenty of Americans believe that right-wing radicals are every bit as dangrous sa the Muslim radicals and people like Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph sure didn't help with that perception. But it is fair to assume that everyone here is a Timothy McVeigh waiting to happen or that Margaret Atwood's A Handmaid's Tale is a real possiblity?

Moderate Muslim = out of bullets

Islamic birth control is a bomb strapped to a ten year old.

HOW'S THAT FOR YA? I hate them.

"The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men."

-Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 (London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899).

"One cannot but ponder the question: What if the Arabs had been Christian? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity."

At some time one has to distinguish between legitimate religions and cults.

We used to......until it became politically incorrect.

Well, a couple of things become obvious.

1) Thank God he wasn’t a grunt or the death toll would have been about 10 times as high.

2) The guy obviously wasn’t well trained as in the use of firearms and tactics or the death and casualty rates would have been at least 5 times as high.

3) He obviously wasn’t a Ranger or else he would have just used his Bic pen instead of a firearm to achieve his intended death toll.

News report now says he is still alive and hospitalized.

I’m not trying to convince you. Guys like you will crowd in the back of the plane, 3 seconds before impact into the face of Mt. Rushmore, with your last thought being “thank God we respected their civil rights”.

Which religions get the stamp of approval? How about the ones who dont keep constantly turning up in murderous plots in the name of Muslim diginity and honor. Lets start there.

I dont care about the peaceful tolerant muslims. They dont seem to care enough about the rest to turn in the terrorists in their mosques, and you will never convince me that they dont know about them. They dont turn out in the streets of Islamic countries to protest Muslim attacks. Rather, they turn out to celebrate.

As for McVeigh, How long are people like you who want to defend Islamists going to seek cover under that one guy ? Timothy McVeigh was one out of 200 Million white guys, or 159 Million christians, if you want to break it down that way. Thats hardly representative of Christianity. Islam in America however, a much smaller group, keeps turning out radicals by the dozens who commit and attempt atrocities, and when they do, we have organizations like CAIR who turn out to tell us “yes, its horrible, but the Israeli occupation is too, and so is the American war in Iraq”. How many whites or Christians defended McVeigh’s actions, or said they should be understood in context?

You keep talking about innocent muslims. You are simply and infinately more convinced than I am that they exist, at least in large enough numbers to be concerned with.

You’re very clever.

But not clever enough. You revealed a bit too much of your own ideology as below.

Any country or culture that doesn’t want to see the difference between Mormons and Muslims isn’t going to last very long, once the Muslims declare jihad on them.

And what ideology is that?

Any country or culture that doesn't want to see the difference between Mormons and Muslims isn't going to last very long, once the Muslims declare jihad on them.

You might want to look at how the Mormons were viewed in the past. And Catholics, too. The best defense against Jihad is to insist that our liberties be respected, not throwing them under the bus and becoming just like the bad guys.

“There is nothing mentally wrong with him. No, I don’t know how he reconciles Islam with other parts of his life but I do know that he practices it very narrowly to the point where he separates out the cultural practices such that his wife doesn’t wear a headscarf and his son isn’t circumcised. But, guess what? I honestly don’t know how Mormons can believe what they believe, either, especially given how messed up their founders were. So should I assume Glenn Beck is insane, too? How about Jews? How about Catholics? How about Hindus? And by far, the most murderous ideologies of the 20th Century were atheist, killing well over 100 million innocent people. Should I treat all atheists as guilty until proven innocent? Or maybe we should judge people on how they individually behave rather than what they are and how other people like them behave?”

I know where I’ve seen this crap before. It’s from atheist handbooks.

I am disgusted by your crap. I am sorry but your equating Islam with Quakers, Mormons, atheism, Hindus, Christians is nauseating me beyond toleration.

And this:

The reason this asshole MUSLIM killed 11 people and wounded a couple of scores of others is becuase ISLAM IS TOLERATED in this country! Becuse criticsim of Islam is NOT tolerated! The very position you are espousing and supporting is the VERY REASON THOSE PEOPLE ARE DEAD RIGHT NOW!

GOT IT?????
