NYT has an interesting piece on Al Gore and the many ways he is profiting from Green Hysteria.
Gore and his partners backed Silver Springs Network. NYT then slyly notes: The deal appeared to pay off in a big way last week, when the Energy Department announced $3.4 billion in smart grid grants. Of the total, more than $560 million went to utilities with which Silver Spring has contracts. Gore, of course, thinks this government hand out is capitalism: Do you think there is something wrong with being active in business in this country? Mr. Gore said. I am proud of it. I am proud of it. NYT also notes that Gore is founder of Generation Investment Management, based in London and run by David Blood, a former head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
He also has a stake in the worlds pre-eminent carbon credit trading market and in an array of companies in bio-fuels, sustainable fish farming, electric vehicles and solar power.
NYT notes that the size of Gore's wealth is unknown, but "his wealth is evident in a single investment of $35 million in Capricorn Investment Group, a private equity fund started by his friend Jeffrey Skoll."
The SEC probably has to pay kickbacks to Dodd and Frank, too.
Just like his daddy on the take. Shake down the system.
I’d be willing to bet that sometime down the road we will find out that Gore is dirty as hell. Something stinks about this. I’ll bet he’s doing something illegal.
I used to say, “when the revolution comes, there will be a lamp post for you”. Al Gore only biblical justice will serve for you.
Every penny of your gains are out of the hide of those poorest amongst us. Those who struggle to heat their homes and feed their children.
I think we should make him eat all the carbon he won’t be allowing us to ‘emit’ any more.
Nope. Now scams are a whole 'nuther thing..
Al Gore, the Bernie Madoff of carbon.
Didn’t Enron get exposed and driven out of business, discredited and humiliated, for exercising the same kind of bookkeeping legerdemain? Just a more sophisticated game of three-card monte.
I just cannot stand to look at that filthy pig I wish I could wipe that silly grin off his face!
I would like to know how he got so rich so fast.
A breakdown of the Gorebot's scam *&* subsequent payoff.
Whatever fact(s) are presented come from our pals at the NYSlimes; so, take 'em for what they're worth.
Considering the source, the numbers are probably quite a bit higher in Gorebot's favor.
Nice catch, Lori. ;^)
Yes, if it is dependent on government handouts rather than free market competition
Like the author said he does not get that part (I would think he gets it just doesn’t care myself)
It was never about the environment...it’s about money, power and control. Looks like Gore has done quite well for himself.
The whole thing sounds like a giant “pump and dump” scheme. So far, we’re getting the pumping — if Gore also dumps, he’s breaking all sorts of laws. (Sorry for any images that conjures up.)
Cook County capitalism at its best! Your friends get the big government contracts! Except here it’s hundreds of millions, not just hundreds of thousands!
Several wealthy corporate heads just handed him stock and stock options for “consulting work.Consulting, you ask? That liar? That F’ing incompetent? That moron? Also on the board of several companies run by left wingers. Soros probably has paid him off too. A REAL POS
