I think we have to be sure that Jerry Brown is defeated. My wife and I breed poodles, and for whatever warts Terminator has, he did veto alot of anti-pet nonsense sent to him by the nimrods in the legislature. Whitman or Campbell would too. Brown would not.

Not that it really matters, but...

Ultimate is the name of the game - one word.

Frisbee is a brand, and not a particularly popular one among ultimate players.

FWIW - most serious players I know actually prefer Discraft as their disk of choice.

Voter drives at Montclair Cemetery have produced a record 41,396 votes, much of them absentee votes. The Montclair cemetery has been a Democrat stronghold for years, so this should favor Corzine.

Yes, that is a valid reason not to have the paper receipt. Basically, the lack of paper receipt became a ‘talking point’ to use against the machines. Maybe there could have been a printout at the voting unit, and a shredder near the exit door. But the dems would have just focussed on a different “concern.” They just did not like the difficulty of cheating the new system, and they framed their objections on the idea that Republicans would be writing the software that would change votes.

Since we know that dems use projection all the time, I am sure that their real hate for the machines was that they knew that they would have corrupted the software if it were possible to do so. To me that indicated that it was not possible. If it had been possible, they would have just gone ahead and done it, not squealed about it.

They might. I think I ran over one of em with my mountainbike last week while they were playing hippie golf.

Sorry, no sale there.

I’m certainly not going to root against a blow to the Obama agenda to elect some RINO for the purposes of ‘defeating’ Jerry Brown. By ‘defeat’, I guess you’ve changed the definition to mean ‘govern with 3/4 of the same political beliefs’.

If the past few days show anything, it’s that RINOs are a waste of everyone’s time and energy.

Oh, yeah, I know a conservative can’t get elected in blah blah blah...lemme ask you...

When was the last time you tried???

The best thing I ever saw was a guy had is disc stolen by a dog. He tossed it and out of nowhere came this Australian Shepherd who caught it mid-air, and took off. I was driving, stopped at a red light, and I saw this happen in the the park... The guy ran after the dog, but I don’t know what happened. Alas, the light turned green...

Nothing terribly exciting here in Minnesota.

There are a number of city council, school board, and mayoral contests across the state.

There are also a large number of school referendums where tax increases are being sought.

None of the above elections are particularly exciting or riveting - but nonetheless, they are important.

I do not think either of those folks are a Scazzawhatsa. If you have someone in mind. Put them out there. McClintock is happy in his congressional seat... Don’t think anyone else has the ID to run in that short a time.

"So why was Strickland for it? Do you know?"

My GUESS is that there were two reasons:

Agri-business (big farms/lobbyists/contributors) were for it.

2) Ohio has LOTS of farmers, and the small farmers want EPA, PETA, SPCA, etc. off their backs on farming.

A Constitutional Amendment, such as Issue 2, removes the ability of Legislators and special interests thereof, of constantly tinkering with the law, certain interests tinkering with the makeup of the Oversight Committees, changing rules, etc.

When it takes a Constitutional Amendment to change the law, we THE PEOPLE get to decide. Same as the State Casino referendum, which WE get to vote on, and not have bureaucrats deciding which Brother-in-law or Donor gets the benefit.

I have a brother who is a small farmer in rural area of the State, and all the farmers around him and himself wanted Issue 2 to pass. They have too many nit-picky rules now, such as having TWO exits in the henhouse in order to call your chickens "free range", etc.

You would be surprised by the number of current senseless rules on farming that the PETA, Humane Society, etc. have put in place to "protect" farm animals.

Strickland was just pandering to votes and special interests, but the bottom-line in my book was to protect small farmers (although large Agri-farmers also will benefit as a result).

Well, candidates aside, we do ourselves a disservice when we overthink things to that extent. Not voting for a conservative in CA-10, so Ahhnold can appoint a Lt Gov, is pretty crazy stuff. Why not just take these things one election at a time and let them play out on their own.?

Yes. Its a shame that these vampires should even be allowed to vote. The dead feeding off the living describes em to the letter.

I’m in Fairfax, too. Apparently the policy changes from precinct to precinct. Others in Fairfax had the option I did. It’s just rather odd that the richest county in the country claims they can’t afford to replace voting machines that are ‘wearing out.’ Especially after all the brouhaha in ‘00.

Frankly, paper is fine by me if they give me a #2 pencil. I’m too old to think it’ll read a pen marking. I’d also like to have us all dip our fingers in purple ink. And drop the in-person absentee voting. Just clean it up so only eligible voters can vote, period.

You're probably right about the lobbyists and contributors. I have a hard time imagining anyone as hard left as Strickland caring about the farmer's themselves. My guess is that it was about money and power.

Your take on the issue was the same as our friends. To get environmental wacko animal rights nutcases to back down...... or at least to have some control over them from within the state.

It's just the Strickland thing that had me puzzled, and truthfully almost made me vote against it. I'm glad I got clarification before I went to the polls and voted.

Thanks for the summation. My wife and I were asking the same questions both to and from the polling location. I had no cogent answer for her.

What is your source for these numbers? Is it the latest tracking data or is it exit polling? Either way, it’s awesome to see Hoffman running away with it. Hope those numbers hold. Thanks for posting!

CA-10 is a Dem district, and the only way a GOP will win is because it is a special election and the trunout will be low. Remember that all of our districts are hyper-gerrymandered here. Not much chance of a change. I am in a fixed GOP Cong seat and two Dems in the legislature. Well, at least I have Rohrabacher as my congressman...
