Palin Punches, Hooks Right, Dede Goes Down
The Politicizer ^ | November 1, 2009 | Conor J. Rogers

Many in the punditry, and especially the mainstream media, have been pushing polls that showed Palin’s favorability ratings dropping and suggesting her star may be fading. In a move that only Sarah Palin could pull off – endorsing a candidate outside her own party, and taking out the establishment candidate – she proved why she’s still around, and reminds us how she got here.

In their relative shock following Palin’s endorsement, the national media seems to forget how Mrs. Palin became Governor of Alaska in the first place: not by defeating Democrats, but by systematically tearing down the Last Frontier’s Republican establishment. Though knocking off Republicans by other Republicans is something new for national politics, Dede Scozzafava now joins half a dozen Alaskan Republicans in Sarah Palin’s trophy case.

HINT: it was only when Sarah lent her name to it that recognition and Hoffman's numbers shot up.

Sarah's endorsement gave him credibility as a real conservative, and therefore as worth fighting for.

Cheers!

Yes, we all know how Reagan campaigned as a moderate...

and how Bush I and Bush II both governed as conservatives, from "Read My Lips" to Medicare Part D and the Kennedy-written education bill...

Cheers!

She was a Johnny-come-lately to the party and didn’t endorse until it was safe to do so.

Hoffman was well entrenched in third place before Sarah's endorsement. I'm not saying she brought him up all by herself, but it's true that her endorsement received the most press. I'd not known, until her endorsement that Fred had already endorsed Hoffman, as had the Club for Growth.

"Sarah got to the Hoffman issue late "<[> Dead wrong. Among well-known politicians, only Thompson was ahead of her, and not by much.

Bambi never quit the Sentate to run for President. He resigned after he won the election.

I think the point was that Obama was arrogant enough to believe that his 143 days as a Senator was sufficient to prepare him for the Presidency, all the while his supporters were denigrating Sarah's years of having been in elective office.

Once he started his campaign for President, Obama was absent from the Senate more than he was there, yet still claimed that office as experience. Sarah was gone from Alaska for just a couple of months, but that's when her trouble started. The Democrats recognized the threat that she would become, and began the nuisance ethics complaints and lawsuits that eventually convinced her to resign, in order to let her Lieutenant Gov. continue the work they had begun.

what is notable is that with the attention Sarah provided, Hoffman SOARED! he didn’t tank, he soared!
Yes, to hear some tell it, her endorsement should have been the kiss of death.

It is in a very real sense a shame that Fred Thompson probably won't be POTUS; how much better off would we be if he were in the oval office NOW! But he does have his faults, over-friendliness with McCain-Feingold being salient.

And Thompson was somehow not up to the run, somehow off his game, when the opportunity knocked these past two years.

There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.

I have not followed the Hoffman race, and I have never received a "Twitter", or Facebook message, but if what you say is true, that gives Sarah MORE credit, not less.

If all she needed to do was sit down at a computer for a few minutes, and bring needed attention to a faltering candidate (and he was at that time), then she has a bunch more power than you are giving her.

Whether you admit it, or not, people like Sarah, and will follow her lead. Sorry, but Dick Armey does nothing for me. Fred Thompson is a "stud", but he failed miserably in his enthusiasm last year, and as for the other groups, if you aren't a member of them, you don't hear of their endorsements.

Let's face it, whether she came first, or last, it was her voice, and opinions that people followed. Hoffman may have triumphed without her, but at this point we will never know, because like it or not it was her endorsement that made the mainstream news, and maybe only coincidently, it was her endorsement that corresponded with his rise in the polls.

What a complete ass clown. Newt. You sucked when you failed to even try to take out Clinton because you were in the middle of having your own affair and you suck now. As one of the brightest guys I’ve ever seen in politics you are one dumb (fill in the blanks). Just go away.

It would be fun to see Sarah show up at Hoffman's victory party!!

"There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!
