Fred to Newt: We're not 'deaf, dumb' By: Andy Barr October 27, 2009 07:20 PM EST
Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson brushed back former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Tuesday over Gingrichs warning that the Republican Party is wrong to thrown in its lot with the Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman over Dede Scozzafava, the GOPs candidate, in the special election in New Yorks 23rd congressional district.
Gingrich has called the many prominent national Republicans including Thompson who have endorsed Hoffman over Scozzafava in recent days misguided, arguing they are making a mistake to back a third-party candidate over the partys nominee.
The conservatives who back Hoffman point to Scozzafavas support for abortion right and ties to local union leaders.
During his radio show Tuesday, Thompson said he was sad to hear when a good Republican friend of mine says that I, and the other good, conservative Republicans who have endorsed Hoffman, are misguided. And thatd be my friend, Newt Gingrich.
I respect Newt. Hes a friend. Done a lot of good, I think. But he endorsed Scozzafava early on. So, we have an honest disagreement in the family, Thompson said.
But, he added, Newt said that our support for Hoffman was a purge, was misguided, waswe were applying a litmus test that said if youre not 100 percent with us than you're not with us at all. And that Scozzafava was more in step with her district and therefore we shouldn't substitute our judgment for the party elders of the district.

Romney: on the fence, RINO
Huckster: same as above
Fred: solid C
Sarah: solid C
Newt: RINO
- and so on.
Anyone know if Jim Demint has endorsed Hoffman? I recently started following Demint after his excellent Honduras article in the WJS.
What kills me are the RINOs that say, “Well, if you vote for a Conservative, a Democrat will win cuz YOU split the vote.”
“American to RINOs: Conservatives voted for McCain thanks to Palin and nearly won it. ‘Moderates’ and RINOs split THEIR vote and voted for OBAMA!”
My thoughts on the flag you posted. It needs a “BIG” cannon round through the Blue & White area.
Possibly from a pocket nuke.
There is only one type of “good” Commie.
Fred T withdrawing from the race was a great disappointment.
Want to go Rino and Dem hunting? Here is where to start looking:

Rush is correct.
When I go into the voting booth, I first look at the Conservative Line on the ballot. Then I check the Republican line.
If the same candidate is on both lines for a particular office, I pull the Republican lever down, if it is different, I pull the Conservative lever to vote against the Republican candidate, and for the Conservative candidate.
I am registered as a Republican, but actually consider myself an Independent Conservative. If I were to register as the latter, I wouldn’t be able to vote in the primaries, unfortunately.
And Fred has done...?
There was no bigger Fred fan than me. But you can't throw the hip of claining to run and then pull it back in. Any reason we should listen to this guy? He could have won.
The really strange thing here, and the article itself or others may have mentioned it, is that Newt actually picked the day that a poll was released that shows more people described themselves as Conservative, than by an other description. 40% of them picked Conservative, vs 20% picking liberal.
Still Newt claims that Conservatives are wrong to think they should lead the Republican Party.
Newt, bud, get a grip. If our party leaders, you included, would spend 1/10th as much time pushing Conservative ideals explaining them to the public, that you do backing liberal policies, that 40% would be 55%.
Get off your ass and help the rest of us retake this nation.
Palin/Thompson...Thompson/Palin...Sarah/Fred...Fred/Sarah.
Anyway you slice it, those 2 should make up the ticket in 2012.
Do these politicians think that voters are going to punish them for backing a third party candidate? If so, they are wildly out of touch.
Palin/Thompson...Thompson/Palin...Sarah/Fred...Fred/Sarah.
Anyway you slice it, those 2 should make up the ticket in 2012.
They WERE to win last year until SOMEBODY in the RNC decided the Soros and commie-backed 0 was fated to win instead.
SOMEBODY got skeered by the Daley machine and put McLettuce up instead: who was it? Who decided that 0 was destiny?
Fred should be our President. Just damn.
It’s too bad Fred ain’t about 10 years younger. If he were he could position himself perfectly for 2012...but I think he’s just not in the mood to campaign anymore (Not sure I can blame him) and that’s why he was so hesitant in ‘08.
If FDT had acted this forceful when he was running in 2007, he might have gotten somewhere.
It's very simple. The Party in charge sets the agenda.
The Party in charge controls the legislation that is introduced on the floor.
The Party in charge makes sure that legislation that tramples on your freedom never sees the light of day.
Unless it's the 'crats that are the Party in charge.
Then she is COMPLETELY worthless to the GOP.
Well Newt, you lost any support from me. Can’t wait for the next time that one of your telemarketers calls and wants a donation for your PAC. They will get an earful!!!
