Gallup wonders: What happened to Sarah Palin’s favorable rating?
Hotair ^ | 10/16/2009 | Allahpundit

Worth posting if only to lay down a marker about where her favorables were before the book was released. At 40/50, there’s nowhere to go but up. Hopefully.

Palin became a bit of a sensation after John McCain tapped her as his running mate last August. But over the course of the campaign, her image suffered, going from a 53% favorable rating immediately after the 2008 Republican National Convention to 42% by the end of the campaign.

Palin’s ratings have not recovered, and her current 40% favorable rating is the lowest for her since she became widely known after last year’s Republican convention…

Palin could compete for the 2012 nomination because she is still widely liked by Republicans — 69% have a favorable opinion of her while only 25% view her unfavorably. But she may have difficulty succeeding in the general election, given that Democrats have overwhelmingly negative opinions of her, and independents view her more negatively than positively.

They offer no explanation for the slide but it’s not a mystery. Follow the link and see for yourself when the divergence between her favorable and unfavorable numbers started to grow. Anything important happen this past July? It’s not just Gallup either. If you scan Pollster.com’s poll of polls on her net favorables dating back to last year, you’ll find that she was pretty near even as recently as … mid-July, when suddenly the slide begins. In fact, Gallup’s numbers today are actually an improvement for her: The last three polls taken showed her approval in the 30s and her disapproval in the mid-50s. Proof positive, I guess, that her resignation has resonance with voters and will be a major issue in the primaries if she runs. I’ll bet Huck’s gaming out the “America can’t afford a quitter” ads as we speak.

I have tried to get to people’s pages and it takes me to a ‘sign up’ page. My kids are even on Facebook and I can’t view their pages and am not going to ask.

I will support the most conservative candidate, when the time comes.

Thank you, I have it copied down on Notepad to save.

Did you find any remarks by me ‘trashing’ Sarah?

.

I don’t get FaceBook - except for celebrities and politicians like Sarah Palin

For them it is a tool - a voice - an image - eliminates the PR man

Makes you appear close to viewers

The internet should be treated with caution by most people

I guess it is “Look at me!” to many

Your non understanding of the process of what she has been through, also dealing with the book, she was in New York some months back for a walk for children with challanges,
in upstate NY where Seward was from for an anniv. celeb.
and other activities there. Much on web sites on this.

A number of months back she was in Kosovo visiting Alaska troops stationed there.

Her son just returned from a year in Iraq. a 4 part Utube of the Military program for his unit with her and fam. in attendance.

That's exactly what it is and you have to invite ‘friends’ in. Some of those friends are child predators, etc.

Just like everyone having a blog, read me, read me.

Sarah IS out in the public, having opinion pieces published in national publications. She’s had several in the last few weeks, alone. I suspect we’ll see a lot more of her in the weeks after her book comes out, but even then, she likely will be interviewed mostly by the conservative media, since the MSM won’t be interested in giving her the publicity. They’ll just talk nasty about her, like they always do. She’ll never bring them around, but I’m sure she’ll learn to talk around them, just like Ronald Reagan did, to great effect!

[Your non understanding ]

You still didn’t post where I disparaged Sarah - because I didn’t.

Look, I’ve been here longer than you and I am on here all day every day, reading news, reading Drudge and other sites.

There’s not a thing you wrote that I don’t know. I read when there is a thread here about her and post my images too.

Goodnight

Just like GWB, she refuses to defend herself in public.

Be patient my FRiend, She has all the time she needs.

If she speaks too soon, the MSM has time to take free shots.

[Sarah IS out in the public, having opinion pieces published in national publications]

I go to any thread posted about her and follow the links too. We are on the internet, millions aren’t and don’t see those articles, the newspapers don’t publish them. That’s the point I’m trying to get across Suzi.

Her face on news shows - so millions can see and hear her!
Touring for her book will help.

Heading off now.

From Michigan you are giving Palin advise?

Try fixing your own house of cards first.

[TWITTER: “I am taking a shower now!”]

I HAVE to get to bed now but want to tell a story related to that.

I LOVE the Dilbert cartoon. You have to keep up with it to appreciate it. There was one recently where Wally [the coffee drinking lazy one] told the pointy haired dumb boss that he needed to use Twitter ‘so you can tell us all you are doing’.

Next scene; Wally and Dilbert are sitting with their feet on their desks doing nothing, and Wally checks Twitter and says, ‘no rush yet, he’s still down in the parking lot’!

LOL

If it was to leave electoral politics then I applaud her. I wish more people would put family first like that.

However, if she runs for office in just a few years, it kind of destroys that rationale. Does she think if she ran for the top spot some how everyone would be nice to her and hers?

Personally, I don’t think she is running for higher office, at least not until all of her children are grown.

I think she is a great and inspiring Women who has gotten a raw deal. But right or wrong her prospects at National office are pretty much dead in the short term. Even Hillary didn’t have negatives like this when she was contemplating back in 2005 and 2006. You can’t win when 60% of Indies don’t like you and almost every Democrat loathes you. Being wildly popular in only your own shrinking party is not the path to victory.

Thus far she peaked in Sep. 2008.
