Now, there is no question that this was a hoax and both parents knew the entire time that the six year-old kid was not aboard the balloon.

Make them pay for the ‘rescue effort’ and make them spend some time in jail.

Yes, it does. But it seems to be a tease. I am sure there are also legal issues, being hotly pursued.

As soon as I saw the wife swap guy I figured it was a publicity stunt. This was a tremendous waste of money, people power, emergency resources and time.
During that chase one of those rescuers could have gotten hurt. Not to mention all the people they upset.

From what I saw, there’s no way he could think that child was aboard that thing. I don’t even see where the child could have gotten in it, but the dad was there the whole time as it lifted up. This doesn’t sound exactly like the story he told Wolf Blitzer last night.

The father's into science and meteorology...he's a garage tinkerer/inventor...a real hands on guy according to his neighbor..........................and yet he couldn't even roughly calculate how much the balloon could lift, or that the balloon could not have possibly carried his son away?

But it wouldn't be make-believe

He’s cussing the kid out because he let go if the tether, like a kid that age is responsible enough to do that.

I’d like to slap that pud head into the next time zone.

That was some of the worst acting I’ve seen in a long time. Reminds me of a scene from “Reno 911.”

This guy says he’s an amateur scientist. If that’s so, then he should have been able to calculate that there was no way in heck that his balloon would be able to lift off under the weight of a six-year-old kid. Not to mention that there appears that the balloon was designed with no opening at all that would be big enough to fit a human being.

Hoax, publicity stunt, screw-loose narcissistic idiocy. I have a feeling that when all is said and done, this guy’s going to be sorry he pulled this one.

Oh, and attention nutcases with kids named Falcon and would-be terrorists named Nutsiballah or whatever: Stop giving my otherwise great state a bad name! Go Broncos! :-)

Rush commented today on how the MSM is demonizing this family and trying to destroy it without all the facts in.

Reading this thread, one can see how instantly effective the media can be when it sets its mass mind to something for the sake of drama.

I hope these folks fade away quickly. I don’t need to hear about the Heenes every day like I have to hear about these Jon and Kate people.

In an exclusive interview, the Gawker states that Robert Thomas spent several months earlier this year working on developing a reality science TV show to pitch to networks — the "show," Thomas says, that Falcon was referring to when he told CNN "We did it for the show." Among the ideas that Heene, Thomas and two others came up with for their reality TV proposal — and one that he says most intrigued Heene — involved a weather balloon modified to look like a UFO which they would launch in an attempt to drum up media interest in both the Heene family and the series he was desperate to get on the air. Still, Thomas never imagined that Heene would involve his six-year-old son in what he is certain was a "global media hoax" to further Richard Heene's own celebrity.
