Robert Reich advocated in detail the cutting off of funds to elder patients and the lower funding of medical research, fully accepting that more people would die. Newsbusters quotes him:
"We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive...so we're going to let you die."
Reich just claims he is "being honest" and that he is. "Let them eat cake" is now joined by "Let you die."
Yup. He is warning us. I give him credit for being honest.
I know foolish seniors who voted for Hussein. They voted for this.
This is also what Joycelyn Elders said when she was Bill Clinton’s surgeon general.
The death panels are in the planning, no matter what the Liar in Chief claims.

With Dems it’s all about the votes.
If you are too old and sick to be a reliable Democrat voter they will waste no money on you...besides, they can have them vote from the grave.
If undocumented aliens and Hispanic immigrants voted reliable Republican the Dems would have a shoot-on-site rule for the Border Patrol.

Something that's seldom mentioned in this debate is that the expensive, life extending therapies have only just begun. We will see more and more new therapies: gene therapy, nanotechnology, more and more sophisticated replacement limbs, new body parts grown from a patients own tissues and new drugs.
There will be more and more therapies to deny the elderly in the future, at least until the incentive to develop new therapies and drugs is killed as the potential for profit from new therapies is diminished: if Obamacare is passed with the inevitable rationing it would bring.
These “ruling class” wannabes need to understand that no “ruling class” in history has every tried to rule “serfs” as well armed as we are.
The really infuriating part of this is that if you “made a commercial of it” or even shoved it in the face of a lib relative/acquaintance,
they’d deny that he meant what was said.
This is where we are going to wind up anyway. There isn’t enough money to pay for all of the care, there are not enough doctors to provide all of the care that government mandated care is going to demand and in the end we have ourselves to blame for pursuing socialism.

I have friends in their 60’s and 70’s in MA applying for LTC. These are people that have not touched a gun in 40-50 years (ex-military). What does that tell you?
Our system isn’t built to handle people living to the average age of 85 years old. The government doesn’t collect enough taxes to foot the bill for the SS and Medicare expenditures and there are not enough jobs to go around in order to keep seniors employed forever.

Sure, first let the old people die. Then if they need more money, let the Evangelicals die, and if they need more money let the Jews die, then the Catholics. That is correct. He wasn't stating he approves of this policy, he was stating it's inevitable if something like Obamacare is adopted.
I'll actually give you a speech made up entirely, almost on the spur of the moment, of what a candidate for president would say if that candidate did not care about becoming president. In other words, this is what the truth is...
He then told the young people they would be paying more and then made the statement about older people. Some of the idiots in the audience (this was Cal Berkeley after all) applauded his comments.
I think the reason some on here misinterpreted Reich is because an honest Liberal is a very, very rare species indeed.
