PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL---Our news partners at the Sun Sentinel report:
U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, who represents Broward and Palm Beach counties, plans to resign from Congress.
He plans to announce his plans at a news conference Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Boca Raton.
A Democratic source with knowledge of Wexler's plans said he is likely to take a public policy job that deals with the Middle East.
Wexler, a senior member of the House Foreign Relations Committee, has long been involved in issues involving Israel and Turkey.
Is there a conservative Republican ready to run against him?

Dem leader Sands was Madoff victim

House Democratic Leader Franklin Sands has learned in recent days that he and his wife, Leslie Sands, are included among a number of individuals, philanthropic institutions, and for-profit investment companies that have been victimized by an alleged fraud perpetrated by the New York based firm, Bernard Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
The Sands have participated for more than a decade, with the input of professional advisors, in accounts managed by Bernard Madoff Investment Securities. Leader Sands said he has had no known direct contact with Mr. Madoff.
Leader Sands is determining, with the help of immediate family members, the extent of the significant financial loss and his options for recovering his investment with Bernard Madoff Securities LLC. He remains confident in his ability to serve his constituents and the members of the House Democratic Caucus.
Leader Sands stated: “Leslie and I are shocked and saddened by this devastating news. However, we are gratified by the support of our family and friends. Falling victim to this fraud will require necessary adjustments, but it will not affect my commitment to my community, my constituents, colleagues and the people of Florida.”

Indeed - this could be very bad news for Israel
New speculation Tuesday suggested Wexler might head up the U.S. Agency for International Development. But others disputed that and said it would be a “public policy” job involving the Middle East.
This month, Wexler gave a policy speech before the Center for American Progress in which he said Obama has created a different approach to the Middle East.
“And that construct is: It’s no longer just the Israelis and Palestinians. It’s the Israelis and the Palestinians joined with the entire Arab world, which is charged with responsibilities,” Wexler said.

Somebody must have some dirt on him. I know some moderate Dems down in his district - they are not friends. They are furious about ObamaCare.
I would think this slime would get reelected because many of his constituents are just as loathesome. They would vote for Hitler’s corpse if he had a D after his name.
