Here is a story from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle on Greg Mortenson, founder of Pennies For Peace (the same organization President Bush encouraged elementary school children to help collect and donate pennies to).  Mortenson was nominated on January 7, 2009 by both Republican and Democrat members of Congress.  Representative Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) was his sponsor.

I don't know why we make such a big deal out of it. It's clearly nothing more than a recognition of the winner's left-wing, anti-American, anti-freedom philosophy.
