When hell freezes over. Some politicians (from the top down) don't believe they, their actions, or their political party have any accountability owed to John Q. Public (that's us). They would be sadly mistaken to believe that!
Labeling a lobbying trip for the city of Chicago as a "sacrifice," the question is: who exactly was the one making the "sacrifice?" Was it taxpayers?
huffington was an opinion writer for years before she started the website. afaik, she had no background in news, but her husband was a republican. so they pretended that she was a conservative commentator, which was perfect because she wrote liberal opinions on everything. editorial boards could say, ‘see we have a conservative, and she agrees with all our liberal ideas.’
when she decided to rebrand herself as a liberal, they did backflips about her so-called conversion. i couldn’t see any difference.
Believe it or not, Andrew Breitbart set up The Huffington Post website. He pretty much said it was a “keep your enemies closer” kind of thing.

Four of the five co-chairs of Obama’sinaugural committee continue to have unpaid leadership roles in Chicago Olympics 2016, including Pat Ryan, the chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016; John Rodgers, the treasurer and director of Chicago 2016; Bill Daley, the former Clinton administration commerce secretary and brother of the Chicago mayor; and Penny Pritzker, the Chicago businesswoman and Hyatt hotel heiress who led Obama’s meteoric presidential campaign fundraising.
Pritzker’s family also owns or manages other hotels named by Chicago 2016 as the accommodations for Olympic workers, press and family members. Ryan and Priztker each contributed $100,000 or more to Chicago 2016.
As did White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers, an Obama family friend, who also served on the Chicago committee. It still counts Obama confidant and vacation companion Eric Whitaker among its members.
Obama family insider in the WH, Valerie Jarrett, owns Chicago property she planned to turn into Olympic Villages (was in Copenhagen). She was replaced as Chicago 2016 vice-chair by Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign, and another Obama family insider.
ASK Public Strategies, the Chicago-based corporate public relations company founded by Obama political guru David Axelrod and owned and run by some of Obama’s top presidential campaign consultants, was paid “in the tens of thousands” of dollars by Chicago 2016 to do “communication management [and] planning,” said former Axelrod partner Eric Sedler, who did not work for Obama's campaign, but was in Copenhagen, along with Pritzker and Jarrett.
“ASK Public Strategies worked on the bid for three years and for 2/3 of that time our work was pro bono,” said Sedler, who would not speculate on whether the company would be in line for more Olympic work if the IOC picked Chicago.

I know AB “set it up”, (not knowing exactly what that means) but, at the beginning of HuffPost, was it as much an unabashed flaming lefty site as it is now? Feel free to correct me if my impression is wrong, but I thot HuffPo originally sought semi-legit “aggregator” vs “advocate” status before it veered way left. That may have been before journalistic integrity itself was thoroughly discredited over the past few years.

The fact that these people's influence over the office of the President of the United States is such that they can literally cause him to expend millions tax-payer dollars to make a personal appeal to the Olympic committee in a foreign country, speaks of terrible corruption.

And that’s included in the “$1 Million” figure. Yeah, right. How much did the fuel cost for all involved aircraft to travel from Washington to Copenhagen, and for the ground transport? What was the prorated salary of all involved during this time? And what did we get for it?
This guy wasn’t even smart enough to be sure it was a done deal. How so empty a suit ever got where is, is amazing.
