Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been quietly assembling the blueprint of a presidential campaign and will announce Thursday the support of a group of high-level political strategists and donors...
Pawlenty, under the radar of D.C.s political community, has locked up some of the key operatives who engineered then-President George W. Bushs reelection campaign a significant feat for a little-known Midwestern politician. The moves underscore, and will lend credence to, the emerging belief among many establishment Republicans that Pawlenty is becoming the sole viable alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a potential Republican primary rival. The Minnesota governor has even gone so far as to contact some of Romneys former supporters. Pawlenty, who previously has had little political infrastructure, is now being advised by a trio of GOP consultants with presidential experience: Terry Nelson, Sara Taylor and Phil Musser.
The second-term Minnesota governor, who is not seeking reelection next year, is focused on twin political goals, his advisers say: helping elect two Republican governors this fall from his perch as Republican Governors Association vice chairman and using his PAC to aid like-minded candidates running in next years midterm elections.
But Pawlenty is doing far more than that to establish his presence in the minds of Republican voters. He is also traveling the country at a fevered clip, appearing at scores of GOP and conservative events to speak to the party faithful, and becoming a frequent national TV presence, especially on cable television, where hes able to offer sharp critiques of President Barack Obamas latest moves.
And behind the scenes, hes engaged in a far more subtle campaign against another possible presidential rival. Pawlenty has been phoning aides and advisers to Romneys 2008 campaign, ostensibly to introduce himself and solicit their advice.

Hunter/DeMint 2012
LOL — Can RINOs be graded?
DOA
MAJOR RINO ALERT! Let’s NOT let the “media” pick our candidate this time.
If he is NOT a Tea Party pusher - than he is just another RINO... Actually, I use to think highly of him, but the silence of Republicans to what is happening is deafening!
I’m not sure that there is anyone that really understands the dissatisfaction with government today (except Sarah Palin).
Does anybody know anything about this guy? I have no clue where he stands on the issues.
Being a SC resident, I’m going to have to switch it up on you:
DeMint/Hunter 2012
Pawlenty can stay home. We need true conservatives.
Don’t do us any favors, RINO.
We’re NOT interested.
NO SALE
I can live with that, if need be.
If Pawlenty can get elected in Minnesota, I think he can get elected throughout America.
I don’t think I ever saw Palin at any of the tea party rallies either
All I know he believes Algore’s fairy tale about global warming.
..a weak counter by the GOP establishment types to Sarah Palin’s book success...
Ah...true! She is one of the few that do NOT need to glorify her credentials! What does that say? She actually was probably one of the few who actually inspired those Tea Parties - just with her actions and beliefs! Amazing that someone could be inspiring without even being a part of the revolt...
I will be contacting the RNC very soon to tell them unless they put out a genuine conservative, they won’t receive a dime from me.
Some of the RNC should be “thrown out”.
Or not. His kind of middling, bland country club type is not going to be very persuasive with a steaming, angry electorate you're going to see in 2012, after 5 years of climbing unemployment. He's the perfect guy for 000bama to run against; he can't excite anyone, not even Minnesotoans.
